Although Neil H struggled with a few of the items on the menu

2 The forum was attended by a good cross section of our membership with 19 members varying in years of service from less than one year to more than 40 years and pretty much everything in between. We had a good balance of men and women and past presidents and future presidents. The session was well facilitated by our District team and well organised primarily by Steve Chandler and Peter Halaseh. Prior to the weekend a membership survey was conducted to be used as an input to the Forum. Based on my review of the survey there were three most important questions: How well our projects serve the local community, how well our projects serve international communities in need and the level of camaraderie we achieve within the Club whilst carrying out these projects. 93% of survey respondents either agreed or strongly agreed that our projects serve the local community well. 100% either agreed of strongly agreed that our projects serve international communities in need well and 90% either agreed or strongly agreed that camaraderie is a hallmark of our Club. A good result I suggest. As always there are areas that can be improved upon. In my review these most notably appeared to be: We regularly provide the public with information about Rotary (only 19% agreed or strongly agreed) We maintain a comprehensive plan for recruitment and retention of members (29%) We ensure that every member is active on a club project or function (33%) The forum kicked off with all participants crafting a vision of what the Club looks like in 2017 across a number of dimensions such as size of membership, projects, fundraisers etc. This was head down work for all involved At this stage your editor had to leave due to work commitments but I m sure updates will be available at our next meeting so come along and find out more.

Newsletter of the Rotary Club of Essendon Inc. From President Lisa Pam Chandler, her friend Helen, my daughter Monique and I did the Motor Neurone Ice Bucket Challenge recently at Etihad Stadium. It was a world record attempt for the Guinness Book of Records and I think we must have got the record as I have not seen any other record attempt done in the world. Good on US! I have spoken to John Gilbert about this over the last few days. He was so touched that we did the challenge, that people supported it by donating and that our club has not forgotten him and Mandy.
