25 Open Source License recommendation After a review of all the available open-source software licenses, the Apache 2 license has the broadest adoption across the software landscape, and provides a valuable and scalable framework for the reuse of code to advance the field of precision medicine. However, it is recognized that legacy codebases have come to the Foundation under various opensource licenses that are less permissive than the Apache2 license. Therefore, our position is that any new code being developed in collaboration with the Foundation be accepted and released under the Apache 2 license if at all possible. transmart license remains on GPLV3 i2b2 license in the process of moving to Mozilla 2.0 Newly developed software Apache (or other permissive license)
