Thank you to all registrants for making our previous ASA a sold-out success! The 62nd ASA will offer the same high quality, interactive scientific program, focusing on burning issues and practicechanging education. We are excited to offer plenary presentations including a discussion about the implications of the important changes in Primary Care, an entertaining look at vitamin supplements from the popular Evidence Based Medicine team, a medical assistance in dying (MAID) panel, and C. Difficile infection. Also included are sessions on topics such as mindfulness meditation, pediatric rashes, leadership, indigenous health, and First Five Years in Practice and Transitioning Out of Practice, just to name a few. We are honoured to celebrate the exceptional primary care research work being done in Alberta at the Research Poster Presentations & ASA Welcome Reception on Friday evening, March 3rd. 3 ANNUAL SCIENTIFIC ASSEMBLY MANIFESTO Hosted by the ACFP, the ASA is recognized as Alberta s premier conference for family physicians. The conference offers continuing professional development and an opportunity for family physicians to network with colleagues to share best practices in primary care. We believe in: Developing a highly relevant continuing professional development (CPD) program that is evidence based, clinically practical, and provides take away lessons that family physicians can immediately incorporate into their practice. Having the courage to offer timely, cutting edge content that encompasses emerging, changing, and, at times, challenging, learning needs. The ASA program focusses on the perceived and unperceived learning needs of the ACFP membership and provides valuable solutions. Securing engaging, expert presenters to deliver practice-changing education that challenges family physicians to do better. Creating an atmosphere of collegiality, trust and inclusiveness (clinically and socially), where attendees can learn, connect, and relax with each other. Delivering an interactive and fun conference that registrants look forward to, and feel like they are coming home! Education for Family Docs by Family Docs! CPD Credits & Linking Learning to Practice (LLP) ASA participants may elect to use this program as part of a self-study learning activity. The Linking Learning to Practice Program of the College of Family Physicians of Canada provides a framework for learners to build on this learning experience. 4 ASA PROGRAM SUMMARY Since its inception, the ACFP has recognized the importance of providing members with continuing professional development (CPD) opportunities and a forum where primary care physicians can learn and network with their peers and colleagues. For more than 60 years, the ACFP has fostered this vision of sharing knowledge and best practices at the ASA Education for Family Docs by Family Docs! KEYNOTE PRESENTATIONS Keynote presentations are 45 minutes in length, and are scheduled in the first timeslots of the morning and afternoon. All registrants are welcome to attend. CLINICAL WORKSHOPS Clinical workshops are presented twice to two different groups of attendees, and are typically 45 minutes in length. A refreshment break occurs between the two presentations. SKILL SESSIONS Skill sessions vary in length and format: some may be presented twice similar to clinical workshops and others just once due to session length. GROUP LEARNING LEVEL 2 PROGRAMS (FORMERLY MAINPRO-C) Group Learning Level 2 programs are also offered at the ASA. Programs vary in length, and are scheduled on Friday morning. Capacity is limited and registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. Be sure to register early! A wait list will be available, if required. Group Learning Level 2 program registration fees are not included in the ASA registration fee. Program certification, credit allotment, and letters of attendance are managed by the Group Learning Level 2 program providers. ANNUAL MEETING OF MEMBERS (AMM) The ACFP Annual Meeting of Members offers the opportunity to review and learn about College activities during the last year. Presented by the ACFP President, the AMM also delivers a summary of the financial health of the Chapter. The meeting is held on Saturday morning, following the keynote presentation. ASA registration is available online only, and on-site or faxed registrations are not accepted. Register Online! or Important Registration information You must pre-register for all workshops/sessions you plan to attend. Registrations will not be processed and confirmed unless the entire registration form is complete, and full payment is received. Registrations will be processed and accepted in order of receipt of payment. The deadline for registration is February 19th, The ACFP will not process registrations past this date. Registrants must pre-register for Group Learning Level 2 programs. Space is limited, and on-site registration is not available. Group Learning Level 2 program registration costs are added to the ASA registration fee. Cancellation/Refund Policy Cancellations must be received in writing on or before February 19th, 2017, and will be subject to a $50 processing fee. Refunds will not be considered after February 19th, The Alberta College of Family Physicians reserves the right to cancel or postpone a program due to insufficient registration, or circumstances beyond its control. How to Register The ACFP uses RegOnline, a secure third-party registration site, to process its event registrations. You will be required to enter an address to begin your registration. Each attendee is identified by his or her address. Once you have entered your address, you will be asked to create an account with RegOnline. Please select your own password for your RegOnline account. If you are a past participant of an ACFP event, it is likely that you already have an account. Simply enter your address and RegOnline password to continue your registration. If you do not recall your RegOnline password, you may request to reset your password.
