1 1 American Culinar y Federation Harrisburg Chapter- PA 181 MISE EN PLACE February 2010 Hello Chefs, Students, and Friends: Thank you to Sysco Central PA, Chef Richard Blythe, Melissa Lynch, and Marsha Brandt for providing a delicious meal and hosting our monthly meeting. What a great job and our deepest appreciate for your continued support to our chapter. We look forward to seeing you at our next meeting in February. We are honored to have it at the beautiful Hershey Lodge and Convention Center. This will be our chapter's walk thru and meeting for final preparation for the 2010 Northeast Regional Conference on March 13-15, We look forward to all those from our chapter who wish to help with this event, please attend this very important meeting. The Steering committee & chapter members are working hard to finalize Northeast Regional Conference with the National Office of the ACF. By this next meeting we will be presenting and reviewing the final schedule for the 2010 Northeast Regional Conference. We will walk through the schedule and review our responsibilities and locations of the events that are scheduled. Our chapter is hosting 2 local events for the ACF Northeast Regional Conference on Saturday, March 13, 2010 at 6:30pm. To 10:30 pm. These events will be offered to all attendees. To make reservations, please Nancy Lyons, nancy.lyons@hilton.com, at The Hilton, Harrisburg. A credit card is needed at the time of your reservation. The charges will be posted to your credit card the week of March 1st.Reservation for both will go through Nancy at the Hilton. Event #1: Includes a round trip shuttle service from the Hershey Lodge to the Harrisburg Hilton and Towers where you will receive a wine reception hosted by the Harrisburg Hilton and Towers & Chef John Reis, Executive Chef followed by dining on the famous restaurant row. A 20% discount coupon on your restaurant food bill will be issued to event attendees to be used that night. Event #2: Includes round trip shuttle service from the Hershey Lodge to The Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Track, in Grantville, PA. Also included in this event is a cocktail reception hosted by Chef John Schlaner CEC AAC Executive Chef, a coupon for a 20% discount on your restaurant food bill will be issued to be used that night. More information and pre-registration will be available on the National website and on our chapter website very soon. Both events cost $25.00 per person which includes round trip transportation for each event, Next Meeting: reception, and 20% discount coupon on you food bill at participating establishments that must be used that night. I would also like to thank our guests, Michael Gallaher from Peak Sales and Marketing, Jon Weinfeld from Pureoflow and Joanna Gresham from The Dept. of Agriculture for their informative and educational presentations. I am happy to say that NERC is shaping very nicely and we will be able to report on the details of our meeting this week at the February meeting. I can share that the Student Track is complete and I am awaiting the final brochure from the national office for marketing. Those of you that are educators and want your students to attend you will happy to hear that the we successful in reducing the cost per student to $25.00 dollars for registration to the full day of educational programming and lunch. Please encourage your students to attend. Detailed information will be forthcoming and I hope to have everything in place before our next meeting. SkillsUSA: Cher Harris, Charlie Gipe, & Tim Harris Pennsylvania State Competition is April 15, Lebanon County CTC Tour De Cure: Plans for the 2010 event will be announced at future date. The dates are March13th, 14th, and 15th Committee meetings to plan for the 2010 Northeast regional conference will be held at 5:00 before every scheduled monthly meeting. The February meeting will be a walk through of the conference. This will be less then a month out from the Northeast Conference. Old Business: Chapter Awards: The committee of Chef tom, Gregory, and timothy presented chapter plaques to the recipients of the The committee would like to present the outline to the membership for a vote on the requirements for the awards and make recommendations to change and add to the Chapter By laws. Please remember that the web page is a work in the process as we continue to add and make improvements.
