2 Last year we had 1938 Cub Scouts from all over the council Adventure Camp Staff Needed! Each October Egwa Tawa Dee partners with the U.S. Sportsmen s alliance and the DNR to put on a program for the Cub Scouts of Atlanta Area Council. This program called Adventure Camp acts as a phenomenal program based mainly on outdoor activities such as archery, fishing, and BBs for the Cub Scouts. However, in addition to this it serves as the largest fundraiser which our Lodge has. Because of this event we are able to keep are dues at the levels they are at now. However, the only way we can carry out such a program for the Cub Scouts is if we have staff to work it. Last year Egwa had 89 OA Brothers on staff and this year we will need even more. Sign up for Adventure camp on the left hand side of our website ( by printing out and mailing in the 2010 Membership Renewal and Event Registration Form. Those who staff this weekend will receive discounts on all other Lodge events throughout the Egwa calendar year. Contact your chapter to find out which activities they are assigned to staff for the 2010 Adventure Camp. In addition, Vigil members can join us at the Vigil gathering. attend our Adventure Camp. Can we get more this year? It is The OA at the Centennial Jamboree up to you! The more staff we have, the better our program! The Order of the Arrow had three main official responsibilities which were imperative to the Jamboree. They were The Mysterium Compass, the OA Service Corps, and the Indian Village. The Mysterium Compass was the successor of Twelve Cubed from the 2005 Jamboree. The entire program took $1,000,000 to produce and had a working staff of over 300 Arrowmen. The program made participants think deeply about their lives as The Mysterium Compass related its activities to participants lives in a much larger scale. The OA also carried out its Obligation of Cheerful Service through working in the Service Corp. We also lead the Indian Village located near Merit Badge Midway. Page 2
3 Got Brotherhood? We have many Arrowmen who are eligible for Brotherhood throughout our lodge. Chapters, please assist our Lodge in encouraging your chapter members to go through Brotherhood at the last two opportunities for this year, Fall Fellowship and the Bert Adams Ordeal. This will be especially Vice-Chief of Administration Brothers, Thank you for a wonderful two years as your Vice Chief of Administration. Thank you all the brothers that helped me get things accomplished, elangomats, Vice-Chief of Indian Affairs Brothers, First of all, I hope you all have enjoyed your vacations. I am happy to report that the Lodge remained active in Indian Affairs this summer, culminating in a Pow Wow held at Summerfest in July. It is my hope that this enthusiasm for drum and dance continues to grow and spread for the rest of my term and under whomever you choose to succeed me. This fall, though, we still have important if our Lodge is to have any chance for Quality Lodge. Fall Fellowship offers you an opportunity to come and have a great time of fun and the Brotherhood Trail. Bert Adams Ordeal provides you with another opportunity to serve as an Elangomat while going through the Brotherhood trail. The Officer Reports and John. Remember to register for Fall Fellowship. We need to know as soon as possible if you can attend. I'll see you guys at fall fellowship. YIB Scott Conner more work to do. It is very important that we encourage all those who are eligible to seal their membership in the Brotherhood. While Brotherhood conversion numbers are important, it is even more important that every Brother who is ready and willing takes the opportunity to participate more fully in our Brotherhood. Every chapter needs to take responsibility for its members and explain to them the importance of taking the next step after Ordeal. Brotherhood will be offered at Fall Fellowship and at Lodge invites each of you to come and seal your membership in the Order of the Arrow. Registration for the Brotherhood Trail takes place at check-in at these events. See you there!! Brotherhood Chair Ethan Gordan Earn those bars! the Bert Adams Ordeal, and I hope to see many candidates enter the Brotherhood at each event. Also, we are in need of Pre- Ordeal and Ordeal teams for the Bert Adams Ordeal in November. Any team that wants to help at that event should begin practicing soon if they want to be ready. Ceremony sites will be assigned at a later date. Yours in the Arrow, William Horton Page 3
4 Did You Know? More than 180,000 youth and adults are members of the Order of the Arrow. This number is ap- proximately one-seventh of the total num- ber of those registered in the Boy Scout Vice-Chief of Communications Brothers, It is hard to believe that I have been in this position for nearly a year now! I have enjoyed both becoming more involved in the Lodge and meeting so many great Arrowmen. You may notice that this Quiver is different than past ones. The old Vice-Chief of Finance Brothers, Well I am glad to see all of you are active in the OA for starters. At our past event, SummerFest, the trading post sold Cvmpe Vekiwv is looking forward to an exciting upcoming year for our Chapter We have much to offer our new Arrowmen. Come be a part. Our Ceremonies teams will be holding our regular practice sessions on Tuesday nights at Alpha Fowler Chapter Reports Community Building, Douglasville, GA. We encourage our new members to get involved with our various ceremoney teams. We also encourage all members to register for Fall Fellowship (WSR), OA Trailblazer Adventure Camp (BSR) and the Bert Adams Ordeal (BSR). Quiver design has been used for many years now and it has been discussed and decided that a new design may add some spice to the venerable Quiver. In addition, the more modern format may win over better with the judges at Conclave in the newsletter competition. I would like to thank all those who I have had the privilege to work with over this past year and I especially thank those Secretaries and Vice Chief of Communications who reverently sent in those chapter reports for every Quiver. I would also like to greatly thank my adviser Mr. Brooks who has guided me throughout the year. YIB, Andrew Bates Attention Chapters: This is the easiest way for your Chapter to communicate to other Chapters and to the Lodge about what your Chapter has done or is planning to do in the near future. We strongly encourage every Chapter Chief or Secretary to submit a Chapter report to vccommunications@aacegwa.org by the stated deadlines. Cvmpe Vekiwv $308 worth of merchandise. Also we recieved our new t-shirts in at that event as well. I hope to see you all at Fall Fellowship. YIB, Lans Swofford There will be lots to do, lots of fun and we need your help to make these events a great success. OA Trailblazer Adventure Camp is the Lodge's only fundraiser which keeps all Lodge events at a minimum cost. Page 4
