Major agenda Items include special sashes for the first 25 registered, our 2015 Lodge officer elections, and a Zombie run. Festivities will kick off with a game Friday night and a movie. Saturday morning will be training, NOAC info, Induction Process is modified with good results! In 2014 our lodge created an induction weekend schedule template and backdater to support a more strategic Ordeal process. Though we made some updates upon implementation this should better prepare our leadership to provide a quality Ordeal experience for new members in the future. This format also better aligns us with national a brief service project. After lunch and a Spades Tournament the real fun will begin as those who have turned in their signed intent to run for lodge office forms will give their speeches and the Elections will be held. I would encourage everyone who is interested in the leadership of our lodge to attend and cast their vote. recommendations and places us in good position to allow for the coming ceremony updates for Vigil and then Ordeal. As many of you may know, our lodge implemented the new Brotherhood Ceremony at Induction Weekends and Camp this summer to have the kinks worked out prior to the mandated release in With NOAC on the horizon there are A Brotherhood Ceremony will be available to those who have been a member in good standing for over 10 months and choose to seal their membership in the order by becoming a Brotherhood member. As Lodge Chief, and event chairman I, Kelsey Seymour, hope to see you there! most definitely changes coming, including the almost guaranteed release of a new version of the OA handbook. Thus far we have inducted 64 Ordeal Members, converted 30 Brotherhood Members, and 3 brave souls have undertaken their Vigil Honor. Our Lodge Membership as of this printing is 231, only 69 shy of the 300 goal set by our youth leadership.

2 The Post Fall 2014 Page 2 of 8 Lodge Newsletter Editor and Webmaster Needed Below are the newly chosen trademark of the 100 th Anniversary of the Order of the Arrow in 2015 and the official trademark. For more information on the centennial logos visit As a part of the lodge developing our Written Communications Plan, we need a couple of Arrowman to help improve our communications. Newsletter Editor The Newsletter Editor is in charge of making sure we put out quarterly newsletters to all of our lodge members. This is a NOAC 2015 FILL THE BUS(s) In 2015 the Order of the Arrow will be celebrating the 100 th Anniversary of the Order during the National Order of the Arrow Conference at Michigan State University. From August 3 rd 8 th over 10,000 arrowman from all over the world will be celebrating the first century of leadership opportunity that can provide a unique opportunity to learn new skills and be able to help the lodge in the process. The editor should have experience in using either Microsoft Word or Publisher and the ability to communicate through and telephone. Leadership and Service and to prepare for the next 100 years of service. Fill the Bus Our lodge last year decided that we want to take a coach bus to NOAC to ensure each member enjoys the trip from beginning to the end of the experience. Our hope is to create a design by November of 2014 to ensure we can get the necessary approvals of using the branding logos from the OA and possibly logos from Michigan State University if need be. 3 Page 3 of 8 The Post Fall Section Conclave Recap The Storm was FUN! This year s Conclave saw several very impressive feats for the TKäen DōD Lodge. Lodge Chief Kelsey Seymour participated in the Chief s pie eating contest. He was joined by Lodge Staff Advisor Ryan Ross in a very vigorous Swamp A Thon. Many other members participated in games and training cells. Lodge Vice Chief Domonic Mathews gave a rousing speech and laid out several goals to ensure that the section provides support to all the associated Lodges. Following several other speeches he was elected Section Chief and later confirmed in his new role. Next Year s Conclave will be hosted by Lowanne Nimat Lodge from May 29 th -31 st If you are interested in working with our lodge leadership to ensure that 2015 is another great year please let your chapter chief know ASAP Section NE-3A Chief Domonic Mathews being recognized after a hard fought election Lodge Goals At the Lodge Leadership Development Course at Camp Brule this past December, the lodge and chapter officers developed the Lodge Goals for These were released at the Annual Lodge Banquet in January. 1. The Lodge will attain Gold Status in the JTE Program. (Bronze 2013) 2. Attain 300 active members (218 in 2013) 3. Memorized Ceremonies 4. 50% Brotherhood Conversation (52% in 2013) 5. Vigil Nominations (None in 2013) 6. 75% Induction Rate (43% in 2013) 7. 25% increased attendance at lodge events. 8. Creating a Written Communications Plan 9. 4 The Post Fall 2014 Page 4 of 8 If you haven t seen the new camp design images they are available on the council website: OA at Summer Camp The Order of the Arrow is the brotherhood of honored campers. Meeting the requirements for election and our induction occurs at camp. Though our organization is much more than just camping we should never forget our roots. This summer our lodge provided a strong program and presence at both Camp Brulé and Camp Gorton, but there is room to improve. In 2015, the year of our centennial we plan to have a written Plan Book that includes a consistent summer program for each camp. Tuesday night will continue to be OA Day at Camp Gorton and Wednesday will be OA Day at Camp Brulé Thank you to all the Camp Staff Members who are in our order and take part in our program, Especially Camp Director Joe Roupp, Program Director Mike Salitrynski, Josh Lundy, Johnathan Kinney, Nate Hemenway, Camp Director Karl Ziefenfus, Kelsey Seyour, Ethan Bratti, and Tommy Lynch. Letter from the Lodge Chief Those who chose you, need you. - Allowat Sakima Dear Lodge Member, As the summer draws to a close, I hope that all of us are able to look back and remember all of the times we smiled, the memories shared, and the campfires burning upward into the dark night sky. I would like congratulate all of our new members, those who sealed their brotherhood, and those who were inducted into the Vigil Honor. During 2015 we are going to be celebrating an important birthday. Onehundred years ago, two men at a small scout camp from the Philadelphia Area Council started something to recognize those who went above and beyond the scout oath and law in their everyday lives. Because one hundred years ago, E. Urner Goodman and Carol A. Edson created an order that still stands today. Just think about that, onehundred years ago a spark ignited, and has grown into a large cheerful fire that burns inside each and every one of us today. 5 Page 5 of 8 The Post Fall 2014 Adviser s Corner.The Time is Now! Brothers what an exciting time to be a member of the Order of the Arrow. Our lodge is wrapping up a great year of service and will be choosing the leadership for our lodge for the coming year at the Fall Fellowship in a few weeks at Camp Gorton. We are soon entering into the only one hundredth anniversary of the Order of the Arrow that any of us will participate in for our lifetimes. Whether it be throughout the year, at our lodge or chapter events, or at NOAC this coming summer, we all have the opportunity to rededicate ourselves to the principals of our order. Don't be sitting on the sidelines while all these special events take place. Conclave and NOAC this coming year is assured to be events that will be very special. I hope you join myself and the lodge leadership in the planning and participation of these special events. Those new officers are accepting a responsibility to lead and support our lodge through the coming months, culminating in the celebration of the 100 th year of the existence of our Brotherhood. If anyone is interested in running for a Lodge or Chapter Office please read and submit the Leadership Position Intent Declaration Form as soon as possible. The expectations and commitments are very clearly explained and those who choose you need you. Let us all be the example of all the things that we believe our order should exemplify. Whatever tasks we undertake let others see us accomplish them cheerfully. Let us serve each other in a spirit of brotherhood. Let us convince the youth and adults who don t know the Order that we are deserving of their time and talents by our example. I look forward to seeing everyone at the Fall Fellowship at Camp Gorton! According to the Northeast Region website: The National Leadership Seminar (NLS) is a Lodge Fleece! The Lodge Fleece and T- Shirt are Here! They will be available at the Council Camporee and our Fall Fellowship with other lodge merchandise to help get us to NOAC! If you have questions please contact Lodge Staff Adviser Ryan Ross at Ryan.Ross@scouting.org weekend conference on the skills and attributes of leadership. It is intended primarily to enhance the leadership skills of the Order of the Arrow's key youth and adult members as they seek to improve their services to the Boy Scouts of America and the greater community. The weekend format is designed to complement the longer, more detailed Wood Badge and NYLT programs. Those who have attended National Youth Leader Training may have learned the same type of skills that NLS espouses, but by attending this weekend training participants will have a framework to put those skills to work within the functions of the Order of the Arrow. There is one more National Leadership Seminar in 2014, November 14 th 16 th at Camp Alpine. We only have 4 slots, if you are interested tkaendod@gmail.com for more information. We need to get these registrations in soon before all the slots are full, so sign up early. How do I fit in? Whether you are our newest arrowman who completed their Ordeal this fall at Camp Brulé, the oldest Brotherhood Member on our roles, or our most recent Vigil Honor Member we ve got you were chosen to do something. If you attend the 2014 Order of the Arrow Fall Fellowship, ask questions, and get to know you brothers a little better your talent or passion just may shine through. 7 Page 7 of 8 The Post Fall 2014 To the right is the Youth Requirement Card for the Arrowman Service Award that can be used by any Arrowman under the age of 21 to record their progress. For more information visit The purpose of the Arrowman Service Award (ASA) is to encourage Arrowmen to recommit themselves to the ideals of the Order, increase their level of service to their local unit and council, and participate in the 100th anniversary celebration of the OA. The award will have three categories of criteria with various requirements that Arrowmen can complete. These include components on personal growth, service to Scouting, and participation in the centennial celebration. 8 The Post Fall 2014 Please cut cards out carefully Council Jamborama Fellow Arrowmen, we need members to join the lodge in cheerful service at the Fall Camporee this October on the weekend of the 17th to the 19th. The various places of service are cooking, parking, and crowd control. Those who help will work 2 hour at the least and can work Friday night or throughout the day Saturday. For the Jamborama to be a success we need you, so join your fellow Arrowmen in cheerful service this October! Winningus Chapter Winingus chapter had ordeal members go to brotherhood at resident camp. We hope to have the new ordeal members come to the meeting. We hope to have a good rest of the year.
