2 Advisor s Corner I hope that each and every one of you had an enjoyable holiday season and New Year Now that the holidays are passed, it is time to pick up the mantle of scouting (and the Order of the Arrow) for Lets begin with 2014 dues payment. Enclosed you will find a flyer for paying your 2014 OA dues (a great bargain still at $15). If you are one of the first 200 brothers to pay your dues (prior to January 31, 2014) you will receive not only the satisfaction of supporting the Lodge and the OA but you will receive a very nicely done 2014 membership patch Please fill out and return the form today or if you wish you can pay online at the council web site. The annual Scout-o-Rama will be held this year on Saturday February 1st at the Santa Maria Town Center Mall. I know that most of you will be attending and helping with your individual units but if you get a chance, drop by the Chumash Lodge booth. If you are interested in helping out with the OA booth, contact your Lodge Chief (Dylan Gillespie) or Vice-Chief (Cody Lykins) and they can get you signed up. OA unit elections are fast approaching and your chapter will be looking for help in carrying those out. Please contact your Chapter Chief to find out how you can be a vital part in bringing new members into our Brotherhood. I would like to congratulate our newest Vigil Honor member, Ron Walsh who completed his Vigil in December. Also, congratulations to Past Lodge Adviser (and current Section Associate Adviser) Dr. George Michaels and Past Lodge Chief (and current Section Vice-Chief) Sean Howell for being named the Chumash Lodge Outstanding Arrowmen of the Year for Both George and Sean continue to do outstanding work for the Order of the Arrow. 5 2015 National Order of the Arrow Conference The 2015 National Order of the Arrow Conference (NOAC) will be one of your most memorable Scouting experiences. NOAC 2015 will be held at Michigan State University from July 27 through August 1, 2015 and is projected to be one of the largest in the Order s history with more than 9,000 Arrowmen in attendance. NOAC will feature a number of unique events, including national competitions for ceremonies, drum, and dance; evening shows; the OA history museum; and awesome recreation competitions such as soccer, basketball, and Ultimate Frisbee. Highlights such as the Founder s Day festivities including the Founder s Day Parade, the Grand Hodag, and the inter-region dodge ball battle are some of the exciting events at NOAC. Arrowmen can participate in service projects, high adventure opportunities, leadership training, American Indian Activities training, and much more. While enjoying the various activities, Scouts will have a great time meeting new brothers and sharing their experiences with people from around the nation. Our lodge will send a contingent to NOAC 2015 and you won t want to miss out. Visit for more information and to learn about NOAC The estimated fee for the conference is $1,200. This fee will cover: Air and ground transportation to and from the conference Meals at the conference Lodging to and at the conference Souvenir package including t-shirts and 2015 NOAC patch sets National Order of the Arrow Conference Fee ($420) Chumash Lodge is organizing a contingent and will travel to and from the conference by air. Final costs to be determined by February 27, 2015 based on costs of airfare, ground transportation, and if an intermediate night of lodging before the conference start day is required. The Lodge will also be fund-raising to help defray some of these expenses. In an effort to support the National Policy of two-to-one youth to adult ratio, we are asking that any adult requesting to attend NOAC as a member of the contingent recruit at least two (2) youth members when submitting their application. We are accepting deposits of $100 due by November 1 st, 2014 to reserve a spot.
