1 years SPONSOR INFORMATION JOIN US TO CELEBRATE 45 YEARS OF HELPING YOUTH IN NEED 2 EVENTS 1 WEEK celebrating 45 YEARS of the THURSDAY, MAY 16th THE CAUSE Every day youth who are homeless, in-crisis, or facing significant challenges at school, at home, or in our community find help and hope at Haven House Services. We serve about 1,200 youth each year across our 11 programs that aim to keep vulnerable youth out of gangs, divert kids away from the court system, provide intensive therapy for families, offer after-school skill-building opportunities, and/or help meet the short-term and long-term needs of youth who are homeless. Essentially, we help many of our community s most vulnerable youth overcome difficult and often heartbreaking situations. AND we have been doing this now for 45 years. To mark this important milestone, we are planning two fun events. This is where you come in! Join us as a sponsor of our events. Honor us for the impact we ve had on tens of thousands of youth in our community. Help us make a difference in the lives of thousands more. SUNDAY, MAY 19th THE EVENTS to benefit Haven House Services Cheers to 45 Years: Gather with other supporters, volunteers, and staff to celebrate Haven House s 45th anniversary on Thursday, May 16th at The StateView Hotel! Enjoy appetizers, dinner, and drinks while honoring Haven House s past contributions and learning more about what s ahead. The event will include music and an auction. Battle of the Bags: Be a part of Raleigh s biggest charity cornhole tournament on Sunday, May 19th is our fourth year of running this family-friendly event at Trophy Brewing on Maywood Ave. Last year, we sold out fast! 80 sponsor teams competed and more than 250 people attended the event, which includes music, a silent auction, raffle, kids activity tent, and more. The event raised more than $56,000. All sponsorships at $250 or above include entry for one or more teams. The tournament starts as pool play with the top teams from each group advancing to a single elimination bracket. 2 Your support will help us change the future of young people like... TYESHIA Tyeshia found hope and a chance for a new beginning at Haven House Services. On the verge of being homeless, Tyeshia connected with Haven House s Crisis and Homeless Services programs, which helped Tyeshia and her two young children move into an apartment. Haven House helped Tyeshia find child care, enroll in GED classes, find a job and build parenting and independent living skills. Tyeshia hopes to become a nursing assistant, and we are honored to be part of her journey to a brighter future. You can watch a short video about Tyeshia s journey at: JEFF Jeff is an 11-year-old 6th grader whose verbal and physical outbursts toward teachers and classmates at school put him at risk for suspension. Due to his behavior, Jeff had few close friends and felt alone at school. He was referred to our Skills 4 Success Program. For three months, he participated in weekly group sessions focused on helping him cope with his emotions and interact positively with peers. So far in 7th grade, Jeff has received no disciplinary consequences, is making good grades, and is trying out for a school athletic team. Jeff shared that his best outcome is that he now has a new best friend - a peer he met during Skills 4 Success sessions. CARMELA With a smile that could light up a room, Carmela wasn t always ready to share her light with everyone. After experiencing challenges early in her childhood, Carmela and her mother knew that she needed an outlet. After a few unsuccessful programs, they came across Haven House Services Second Round program an after-school program that uses boxing, weight training, and other forms of exercise to help youth build the strength and skills they need to overcome the challenges they are facing. Almost a year later, and Carmela is one of the program s shining stars. With more focus and drive than ever before, she has learned how to channel her fears and challenges in a more constructive way. There s rarely a day that you won t find Carmela in the gym, because as she fondly says, This is my safe haven. JOHN John is a 16-year-old boy who came to stay at Wrenn House, our temporary shelter for youth who are homeless or in-crisis, after he and his mother became homeless. His mother brought John to Wrenn House so he would have a safe place to stay while she stayed with a relative and worked on securing a new place for her and her son live. Staff at Wrenn House transported John to and from school every day to keep his life as normal as possible during this difficult time. Staff also connected his mother with a community partner organization to help her secure housing and basic need items such as food and clothing. After a few weeks, housing became available, and John and his mother were able to reunite and move into their new home in time for the holidays. Upon leaving Wrenn House, John s grateful mother said Wrenn House saved both their lives.

4 THE POWER OF YOUR SUPPORT A $10,000 sponsorship could provide: + Move-in expenses so 5 young adults (and their young children if applicable) can move from homeless to housing as part of our Transition in Place program Annual sponsorship for 5 youth to participate in our Second Round program where they can build skills needed to overcome challenges and lead positive, healthy lives $5,000: + 20 nights of shelter at Wrenn House, including services and supports, for youth ages who are homeless and/or in crisis 60 hours of crisis counseling to youth and/or their families $2,500-$3,000: $1,000-$1,250: 6 months of meals for youth who are homeless or in-crisis staying at our Wrenn House emergency shelter 2 months of outreach services to four young adults experiencing homelessness $500: $250-$300: 20 hours of mentoring and/or case management for youth at high-risk for gang involvement and/ or who are having difficulty at home or school 5 weeks of healthy snacks to youth in our after-school programs
