It governs the meetings of a diverse range of organizations including church groups, homeowners associations, school boards, and non-profits like ourselves. The manual was first published in 1876 by US Army Officer Henry Martyn Robert, who adapted the rules and practice of Congress to the needs of non-legislative societies. The most current edition was published in The copyright to Robert s Rules of Order is owned by the Robert s Rules association. The procedures prescribed by the book were modeled after those used in United States House of Representatives as Robert saw fit for use in ordinary societies. We are so lucky to have this available to us. In our organization we try very hard to follow the Robert s Rules. We use this in our e-board meetings and our General Membership meetings. See you on the 24 th of October. 3 The Lion s Tale Bulletin October 24, NOTE FROM THE EDITOR Hello Lions, The past two weeks were so eventful at the Foster City Lions Club. First, the Blood Drive organized by Lion Jody with the help of the other volunteers from the club. Then, the USO Night hosted successfully by the Lions Veterans Charities Inc. Finally, the White Cane Bingo Night. Thanks to all the Lions who have volunteered and attended these events. At our last meeting, Corporal Travis Murray from the Foster City Police Department gave a presentation on Crime Prevention. It was a very informative session. The Foster City Manager Kevin Miller will be the speaker at our meeting tonight. We will also be having our Halloween celebrations tonight. Looking forward to see you all in some fun costumes. Once again thanks to our 1 st Vice President Pierre Morrison for inviting such wonderful speakers to our meetings. Thanks, Lion Sowmya Vundamati.

6 The Lion s Tale Bulletin October 24, USO NIGHT Lions Veterans Charities Inc. successfully hosted the USO Night on October 13 th. We donated $4,000 last month in September from our anticipated donations and proceeds from the USO Night, towards helping veterans and their families impacted by Hurricanes Harvey and Irma. The funds are being managed by the Veterans Administration on the East Coast; many veterans in the Gulf Coast and Florida live outside of metropolitan areas and your help and donation with others will help provide a helping hand to the veterans, their families and properties, and their livelihood. Thanks to the Foster City Lions Club which started the veterans programs nineteen years ago and continues to support us in our veterans work. - PDG Roger Chinn.
