4 11 th National African American Breast Cancer Conference The 11 th Annual National African American Breast Cancer Conference was held in Houston, Texas at the Intercontinental Hotel. The conference hosted over 500 participants and 30 exhibitors from across the United States. The program included presentations from experts in the field of breast cancer, research, treatment, screening, diagnosis and survivorship. For the past 11 conferences, the national office has consistently increased the number of sponsored registrations for the affiliate chapters. Within the last three years, national has been able to announce scholarship opportunities to the general public through a screening application process. These scholarships are to cover travel, hotel, or registration. The national office has supported full travel scholarships for key leaders in the affiliate chapters. This event gives affiliate chapters an opportunity to learn more about cancer research and innovative breast cancer treatment. It also provides a venue for chapters to network with each other and exchange ideas on how to improve access to care and educate underserved women in the communities in which they live. 4
