1 January From the Club President Many organizations today are having difficulties keeping their heads above water. Memberships are down, income is down, and trying to find someone to run for an office is becoming more and more difficult. We ve had our share of these problems to be sure. But the past few years, this club has had the good fortune in that we have had several individuals that have come up through the licenses and have become very active as officers and committee members. A lot of them are current officers of the Club. They ve have enough interest in the Club to want to see it succeed and they ve been working together to do just that. I d like to commend all the 2014 officers on a job well done. Being a Club member has lot of advantages. There is a lot of help for learning about many of the different facets of the hobby because of the variety of interests of the membership. The Club also offers assistance on projects like putting up towers and antennas, learning more technical subjects like APRS, Echo Link, and repeater operation. Training, also, comes in many forms, from monthly programs, or formal training classes to either obtain a new license or upgrade to a higher class license. We also, have been providing VE Exam sessions to go along with the formal training for several years now. The club has a lot of activities, something for everyone in the Amateur radio community, we hope. Making it work does take a lot of work, but we do need to have participation on a larger scale to accomplish this. My goal is to have every member of the Club to be part of a least one committee and participate in the activity or activities of their choices. You ve selected the Officers to run the business of this Club and to perform these duties in accordance with the Club s Constitution and By-Laws. But there are other duties and responsibilities not specified in the CB&L, this is the reason for the creation of Committees. If you have an interest in a particular area/areas in the Club or Amateur radio in general, let me know and we ll find a place for you. Remember, this is a hobby, so let s have fun and enjoy it. 73 s Armand
