2 Ballarat North Neighbourhood House We are a well-established not for profit, Neighbourhood House based in Soldiers Hill. We have been operating for 30 years and offer a wide range of activities and programs in response to the needs of the community. You will find us located in The Salvation Army on Crompton Street. Our modern, purpose built Centre a popular option for furthering skills and taking part in the diverse range of opportunities available at our Centre. Payments can be made by cash or EFTPOS. Class fees must be paid in full upon making a booking to secure your place. Classes are subject to numbers and BNNH reserves the right to cancel classes due to insufficient enrolments. Classes not held on Public Holidays or school Holidays. No refund will be given if a student cancels once a class has commence or for missing a class. A full refund will be provided if a class is cancelled by Ballarat North Neighbourhood House. 4 Technology For Everyone Touch Screen - Apple* * Apple Mac This hands-on course will help you get up and running with your Apple, teaching you how to make the most of the many features available and understand exactly what makes this incredibly useful piece of technology Bring your Apple Mac laptop. Tuesday 31 July - 18 Sept Cost: $50.00 per person (8 weeks) Image Editing Beyond** (Intermediate) This 16 week course is intended for those who have either completed the Multimedia Beginners course or have previous experience in editing programs. This course uses Adobe Photoshop Lightroom and Photoshop Elements. Tuesday 24 July- 18 Sept & Tuesday 23 Oct - 11 Dec Cost: $85.00 per person (16 Weeks) Beginners Computer WINDOWS 10..(starting from scratch..) ** This 16 week course is for people who would like to learn about Windows 10. You are most welcome to bring your own laptop or use our new computers Wednesday 1 August - 19 Sept & 10 Oct - 12 Dec Wednesday Cost: $65.00 per person- 16wk No classes 24 & 31 October Starting Image Editing** (Beginners) This 16 week course is for beginners in image editing. It assumes that you have a basic understanding of computing and can use a camera and scanner/printer. In this course you will learn how to use photo editing software programs Adobe Photoshop Lightroom Elements. Thursday 2 Aug - 20 Sept & 18 Oct - 13 Dec Cost: $85.00 per person - 16 wk No class 25 October iphoto * *Basic Computers in Digital Age iphoto is a photography tool for the home user that can help you organise, edit, and even publish your photographs. After you shoot your photos with a digital camera (or even scan images from original film prints or negatives), you can import them into iphoto, edit them, and publish them.learn about the icloud storeage. Please bring your iphone, ipad or Mac Computer to learn about this software on your device. Tuesday 23 October - 11 Dec Cost: $50.00 per person (8 Wks) Take Control of Your Computer Are your files & photos in a mess? In this course you will learn how to name, copy, transfer and organise the files and photos on your android mobile phone, android tablet, camera and PC computer. You will also explore the use of online cloud-based storage. Wednesday 17 October - 5 Dec Cost: $50.00 per person (8 Wks) Enhancing Photos beyond the Digital Age** Repairing old damaged photos Bring an old photo that has discoloured or needs repair. Learns techniques to jelp with this. Thursday 11 & 18 October Cost: $20.00 per person Composition Photos This class is for anybody who wants to create visually compelling photographs. You will learn photographic composition - a crucial element for great photos. Thursday 1 & 8 November Cost: $20.00 per person Storing and Filing How to store my digital photos so you don t lose them. This workshop will explore the various methods of storing and filing your images and keeping them for future generations. Thursday 15 & 22 November pm Cost: $20.00 per person Bring our the Artist in your image Have you ever wondered how people can make an image look just like an oil painting or a water colour? This workshop focus on using some of the inbuilt tools in Adobe Photoshop Elements. The Neigbhourhood House will provide Adobe Suite. 6 In the Garden Invigorate Mind and Body with Gardening Meet to share skills and experiences growing food in the shared Vegetable garden. These are FREE sessions to spend time in the garden to learn about propagation, planting and looking after your crop. Maintain the community beds or just come to discuss and learn. Come and learn step by step how to use cuttings to propagate. Bookings are essential & take some home for your garden. Thursday 6 September pm Free Bookings essential Victorian Seniors Festival October Wills and Power of Attorney plus Funeral Plans Conversation Hour come and join our guest Lisa Buckland - Community Legal Centre Central Highlands to discuss the latest changes for Wills and Power of Attorney. Maureen O Shannassy - Consumer Affairs will talk about the pros and cons of Funeral Plans. This is a must for all membes of our community. Thursday 18 October Morning tea will be provided, bookings essential Ballarat Scottish Country Dance Group Scottish Country Dancing is the traditional ballroom dancing of Scotland and is suitable for all age groups. The Ballarat Group are going to show how it is done. Join us for a Morning tea and some dancing. Wednesday 24 October RACV - Years Ahead RACV offers free Years Ahead presentation discussing driving for older members of our community. Wednesday 31 October Bookings essential Victorian Seniors Festival Each year the Victorian Seniors Festival is a chance to recognise and celebrate Victorian s seniors. As part of the Festival the Neighbourhood House has a great range of Free events for you to come and enjoy our hospitality.

7 Visual Arts & Wellbeing Watercolour - Introduction- Gain confidence in mixing colour and develop and understanding of basic water colour. All materials included. No experience required Thursday 18 October - 1 November 1.00pm pm Cost: $30.00 per person Drawing: introduction For absolute beginners, this class is a relaxed introduction into basic drawing skills. Learn to draw a simple composition, no experience need and all the materials provided. Thursday 8 November - 22 November Cost: $30.00 Self Portrait A Class using various mediums and freedom of expression. Come and enjoy an afternoon of exploring and creating a personal masterpeice. THURSDAY 29 NOVEMBER - 13 DECEMBER PM COST: $30.00 Patchwork & Quilting Class *Materials are not included* In this relaxed, flexible and creative class you can learn patchwork quilting and sewing in depth. Learn a broad range of skills and techniques with an experienced tutor. The craft class enjoys making different craft products. They will meet on Tuesday 17 July and every fortnight afterwards. Please collect for us plastic bottles & caps Plastic containers (all sort) Lids (all sorts) Acrylic wool/string Plastic tie Bins are at the Neighbourhood House as we need them for our Plastic Flower Making Workshop Walking Group Ballarat North Neighbourhood House, Ballarat Community Health and Heart Foundation encourage and support community walking groups. The groups are easy to join and you can walk at your own pace. The Ballarat Norh Neigbourhood House Walking Group is every Tuesday meeting at the neigbhourhood House. Tuesday 10.00am am Phone to register Walking Tour with National Trust Ballarat tuesday 30 October Time: 10.00am where to meet: Ballarat North Neighbourhood HOuse 6 Crompton Street Soldiers Hill no bookings required This leisurely walk is suitable for all, and will take one hour. There are no steep areas though some sections of the path are a little rough, there are plenty of shade trees. Dinah will be sharing the history of various buildings, streets, houses and stories about Soldiers Hill. Dinah McCance from Nataional Trust Ballarat Branch will be hosting the walk.

8 Plastic Flower Making Workshop Join us at the Ballarat North Neighbourhood House and help make some of the thousands of plastic flowers we need to reinvent the decorated trams from the Ballarat Floral Festivals of 1938 and The tram will be used during the 2019 Begonia Festival, and be completely covered with flowers made from recycled plastic. At the workshops, we will show you how to turn old supermarket bags, drinks bottles and more into stunning flowers. There is no cost to be involved, but please lets us know if you are coming, and it would be great if you bring some plastic saved from your recycling bin!
