2 THANK YOU for signing up to hold A BIG PINK We want to make it as easy as possible, to get you ready for your Big Pink, where every wonderful person like you, comes together with friends, family, colleagues and neighbours, for one day in October to raise money for Breast Cancer Care. How you want to fundraise is totally up to you. It s as flexible and as fuss-free as you fancy. Host a Big Pink at home with your nearest and dearest, a simple dress down day at work or if you re feeling daring, go big with a full blown community bash! Whether you raise 20 or 200, your donations are touching the lives of so many people affected by the harsh reality of breast cancer. Whatever you do, we re brimming with ideas to get you started, so have a look at our handy materials and top tips. Get ready to PINK it up, to help families across the UK facing breast cancer today. Next up, set the date (don t worry if 14 October doesn t suit you, another time is great too) and start inviting your guests! You can use the posters, invites in the kit and our online materials to help you share your event with friends and family. By fundraising this October, you re helping us to always be there. When Where Together we ll make a difference. Invites Posters Fill in your event details and pin the poster where everyone will see it. Let s PINK UP the day together! Get a mention in the newsletter or on the intranet (if you have one) Send out a group or save the date in everyone s diaries In the community Pin up posters on noticeboards, lamp posts, doors the list is endless! Download and print invitations from our website and pop them through neighbours letterboxes Grab our press release template online if you d like to approach your local newspaper Set your target using Here s how the money you raise helps. However much you raise, you are making a world of a difference. 5 Sell 5 cupcakes for 1 each to provide people with breast cancer the vital answers they need right now by funding five invaluable information resources. 12 Play your fundraising game with 6 people to help us maintain our supportive online community and allow people with breast cancer to feel less isolated. 30 Let 6 ladies loose in your living room with a 5 fee to help a person affected by breast cancer receive the support they need when they need it most through our Helpline. THE PINK LIST 55 Hold an office dress down day to help a younger woman with breast cancer feel less isolated by connecting with others under 45 with the same diagnosis. 285 Have a pink night in with 6 friends, donate what you d spend on a night out to give a woman with breast cancer somewhere to turn after her treatment through our Moving Forward courses. 450 Surprise yourself with a Big Pink car boot sale in the community, to allow 15 people with breast cancer to get the support they desperately need by calling the specialist nurses and trained experts on our free Helpline.
3 STEP 2 TODAY S Guess THE BIG PINK pug s favourite pink toy! Meet Coco our Big Pink Pug. She just loves pink toys, but can you guess her favourite? 1. Your BIG PINK organiser will pick a winning item and place the number in a sealed envelope. 2. Pick your item and write your name underneath. 3. Make your donation to play (we suggest 2). 4. If you guess right, you win a prize! Organiser: the day! Pink it up and have a fabulous time whilst raising money for a good cause. Set yourself a fundraising target, use the balloons and stickers and play a game or two with your guests! CYNTHIA and her Big Pink community I held a 50s style theme Big Pink which included an auction, raffle, stalls and food. Everyone looked fabulous in their touch of pink and it made for a very special day. Cynthia Our Big Pink was such good fun and the staff made a wonderful effort! We held a raffle, had a cake sale, ate lots of pink coloured food and drink, and pinked up our desks! Jane Having had breast cancer myself, I wanted to get the girls together for one very pink evening! It was a huge success and one of the girls even arrived on a pink bike, in a pink dress and pink wig looking fantastic. Sharon JANE and her Big Pink colleagues
