2 INTRODUCTION The purpse f this wrkshp is t help srrs becme familiar with and gain a better understanding f the plicies related t bth acceptable and unacceptable behavirs, as well as gaining a higher understanding f the imprtance f this critical dcument, the Cde f Cnduct, and hw each member has a respnsibility t adhere t its cntent. The Natinal Schlarship & Standards Cmmittee in cllabratin with the Leadership Academy develped this training dcument as a means f helping members and chapters becme familiar and be mre aware f the cre values deemed necessary t ensure the cntinued existence f ur rganizatin. Every rganizatin, whether it is a cmpany, a club r a fraternal rder, has expectatins f hw its members shuld act amng each ther and with thse utside f the rganizatin. The set f principles that gvern these expectatins is referred t as a cde f cnduct. They may be implied r written. Organizatins may impse penalties fr breaking their cdes f cnduct. Delta Sigma Theta is n exceptin. Delta Sigma Theta Srrity, Inc., a natinal service srrity, requires that its members exemplify and encurage high cultural, intellectual, and mral standards and that their actins exemplify the public and persnal behavirs that reflect the ideals and principles espused by the Sisterhd. 6 Delta Sigma Theta Srrity, Inc. CODE OF CONDUCT ACTIVITY #2 Incident Descriptin - Ptential Vilatin 1. Having a meeting with Pyramids withut an advisr. Meeting tpic: Explain the necessary attire fr Membership Intake 2. Having a Pyramid call r text yu every mrning Is this a vilatin? Yes/N Cde(s) Fine/sanctin 3. Frgetting t turn in the required frms (Demgraphics Reprt Frm and Internal Audit) as a part f cmpliance dcuments 4. This was a busy year and all f the chapter members are Senirs, they implemented nly ne prgram (Annual Bld Drive) due t class schedules and ther cnflicts but they paid their dues, attended Reginal Cnference and State Cluster. 5. Having Pyramid Circle greet and present a gift t the men f Omega Psi Phi during the nn day break n campus 6. Srr Delta witnessed Srr Sigma harassing a pyramid (all up in her face, using prfanity). When the advisr fund ut, she called the Srr Delta t cme in fr questining during the investigatin, but since Srr Delta was nt invlved in membership intake, she did nt return the advisr s call. 7. Slapping a pyramid; wiping a SMILE ff 8. Srrs Delta, Sigma and Theta were leaving a party, while ging t their car, anther student (Sigma Gamma Rh member) cnfrnted Srr Theta and began t harass her; this cntinued; and Srrs Delta and Sigma gt pulled in; needless t say, an altercatin began. Campus Plice intervened and all students were reprimanded, 9. Pyramids are asked t participate in an investigatin prmpted by a letter t a cllege fficial. They repeatedly state that n incidents f hazing have ccurred. But the letter specifically states wh was present and details the incident. 10. The chapter submitted all dcuments via the RED Zne fr cmpliance and awaited receipt f the Cmpliance letter frm the RD. As the desired start date f the Membership Intake activities quickly apprached they prceeded and anticipated receiving the letter sn. 11. The chapter website was just cmpleted and will be launched tday. The webmaster is very prud f securing all the infrmatin frm previus lines t be included n the site; a special graphic with the Srrity s crest is als prminent n the page, 12. Srr Delta received a call frm a friend wh just pened a new saln; it specializes in natural hair; t shw her supprt and t increase visibility f the saln; Srr Delta transmitted the chapter rster t her friend t be part f her distributin list. 13. The chapter Treasurer has attended tw meetings this year, it is nw February, and the chapter has nt received a financial reprt since December ( ed t Chapter President).
