4 ABOUT US The YMCA East Hampton RECenter which is a collaborative partnership among the Town of East Hampton, the Village of East Hampton, and the YMCA of Long Island is a true gem among the surrounding riches of the world-famous Hamptons! The 21,000 square foot facility features modern architecture that fills the interior with natural light, giving members a bright and welcoming place to connect and get fit. Provides tweens an opportunity to interact and keep busy in a safe environment. Registration is ongoing. Free Transportation provided for the following locations: FREE YOUTH & TEEN PROGRAMS At the Y, we truly believe that all pre-teens and teens should be able to gather in a safe and structured environment to socialize and explore their interests. Led by our professional youth development staff, our program activities include recreational swim, fitness classes, basketball, soccer, rock climbing, financial literacy, robotics, video game tournaments, peer mentoring, field trips, and much more. Registration by a parent or guardian is required. LEADERS CLUB (Ages 12-16) Teens work together to help their community and develop their leadership skills. 5 HEALTH & WELLNESS Studio Cycling Ride up hills with a steady beat from the music sprint downhill to catch your breath! Listen to the latest hits and ride to Montauk and back while increasing your lung capacity melting the lbs away! All levels. Total Body Conditioning Strength training with exertubes, balance with strengthening exercises and core work to improve overall conditioning. All levels. TRX Suspension Training TRX suspension straps are made of parachute-like material to sustain up to 300 pounds. You will connect the TRX to a bar and perform chest, back, bicep, tricep and monster core work. All you will be using is your body weight to get strong! Les Mills Body Pump Using bar bells and working multiple sets for each muscle group to music that will motivate you! Strength training at its best! All levels. Zumba Lose yourself in music for 55 minutes of dance partying! Music is exotic rhythms to move to high energy beats, horns and guitar! All levels. Pilates Work to strengthen your abdominal muscles including lower, upper and oblique muscles. PERSONAL TRAINING The Y offers a variety of private and group training packages to help you meet and maintain your health and wellness goals. Each member of our Personal Training staff has earned certifications by nationally recognized accredited agencies and will work with you to develop a customized fitness program. ACTIVE OLDER ADULTS Mindful Yoga in the Chair Using a chair to perform all Yoga stretches without ever having to get down on the floor. Arthritis Foundation Water Exercise Joints, tendons along with major muscles move in the water at a slow pace. Feel relief from arthritis after attending this water exercise hour. Aqua Zumba Dance to Latin and World music in the comfort of the water. Soft on the joints and fun work-out. Silver Sneakers Silver Sneakers is a workout either in or out of the chair. Using dumbells, balls and rubber resistance to work your muscles. Aerobic dancing to music you will enjoy! Restorative Mindful Yoga Yoga stretches to lengthen and to strengthen your body ending with mindful meditation. This class does require you to get down on a mat on the floor. Aqua Yoga Yoga poses performed in the small pool. Warmth surrounds your tendons and joints while your spirit unwinds. Parkinson s Disease Research in the area of Parkinson s disease indicates that exercise has been shown to improve self-confidence and independence, decrease the risk of falls, minimize fatigue, reduce rigidity and improve mobility. Learning beginning foot and arm positions, the dancers will begin developing a dance vocabulary while also being introduced to different ways of moving and increasing flexibility, strength and coordination. meet once a week and are 45 minutes in length. Jazz and Hip-Hop are the two styles that are demonstrated most in Pom routines with Cheer style moves incorporated. Dancers will work up a sweat while learning basic dance skills that increase flexibility, strength, self-awareness and cooperation.
