2 Dear Sir/Madam: My name is Essi Kwabi, I am an active member of our Houston community and a Rotarian. I and fellow Rotarian Samantha Holsomback, and a committee made of District 5890 Rotarians and friends, are putting together an annual event to help support our community and raise awareness for human trafficking in our beloved city of Houston. The event is a dinner fundraising gala benefiting United Against Human Trafficking (UAHT), a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization who fights human trafficking through education and awareness. The event, called E.S.S.I. Empower, Stand, Serve, Impact, will take place on Friday January 18, 2019 from 6pm to 10pm at the St Regis. January is human trafficking awareness month. The event will consist of a keynote speech, silent and live auctions, special award ceremony, live entertainment, and more. We would like to highlight a few local individuals and businesses at the event for their efforts and contributions toward making Houston a great city. As a Rotarian, Essi Kwabi s objective in initiating an annual E.S.S.I. event is to Empower others to embrace a worthy cause, encourage them to Stand for their belief in that cause, Serve through various avenues and resources, and positively Impact the community in so doing. This year s E.S.S.I. event benefits UAHT. Houston is known as an intense human trafficking jurisdiction. Human trafficking is the second fastest growing crime against humanity. This includes both sex and labor trafficking, and most victims are US citizens. If we join forces to fight together, we can help eradicate this monstrous crime from our city. Established in 2005, United Against Human Trafficking (UAHT) is a lead organization of a coalition of Houston-area non-profits, faith-based organizations, government agencies/entities and others whose mission is to end human trafficking. Human trafficking is modern day slavery.victims are young children, teenagers, men and women, U.S. citizens and foreign immigrants. They are subjected to force, fraud, or coercion, for the purpose of sexual exploitation or forced labor. UAHT s mission is to end human trafficking through awareness, education, and outreach.

6 Event Chair Essi Kwabi is a local change agent and a dedicated community impact leader passionate about making positive lasting differences in communities. Professionally, she is a petrophysicist at Apache Corporation, where she served on the steering committee of the Apache Women s Network for over three years. Essi is passionate about impact investing, a form of investment that generates measurable positive social and/or environmental impact in communities. She is a member of West U Rotary Club, where she chairs the club s biggest fundraising program, and a lead singer (praise team member) at the Second Baptist West Campus choir. Essi is also a supporter of several other causes and organizations such as Saint Jude Children s hospital, Habitat for Humanity, The Women s Resources of Greater Houston, and United Against Human Trafficking. She is a wife and the mother of two beautiful girls. Event Co-Chair Samantha Holsomback is the owner of All Things Love- Event Planning. She is a veteran creator and manager for event logistics, and has served many notable businesses in and around Houston. In 2018 she was recognized in Katy Magazine as one of the Top 100 Influential Women in her community. Other accolades include the distinguished Who s Who Award from Strathmore, Top Pro recognition on Thumbtack for 2015, 2016 and Samantha is the published author of Amazon Best seller YOU CAN. She is an active member of The Rotary Club of Houston Skyline, I Know Somebody Houston, and Community of Faith Church. Samantha is a married, proud mother of two children.
