The Leaf had a couple of events in September that we would like to acknowledge and celebrate! The first shout-out goes out to all the Dads and Dadlike figures that attended our annual Dads Take Your Child to School day. We were able to visit several classrooms and see the Dads involved in a variety of activities with their child. The second shout-out goes out to all our families that attended the Publix Family Math Night. Walking through the store, you could pick any isle and see students hard at work calculating, estimating and problem solving. Both events were absolutely PAWsome and would not have been such a huge success without your participation! Please visit our official Longleaf Facebook page to view some pictures of each event. We celebrated our Student of the Month for September last Friday. The character trait of focus for September was INCLUSION. One student per month is nominated by their teacher/peers for demonstrating the trait of the month consistently. At the end of each month, the nominated students are recognized and earn a tag to display proudly. Thank you Ms.Gabreski for helping our students and teachers find resources and class building activities to focus on the different traits each month and to help recognize our students. Our focus character trait for October is HONESTY. IMPORTANT OCTOBER EVENTS: October 11 th - Bobcat Bash! Students will be spending their PAWS passes on a variety of events planned around campus. October 11 th - FOCUS Parent Letter and PIN going home in the Thursday Folder. Be on the lookout! October 12 th - End of the 1 st 9 Weeks. The time is flying by quickly. October 15 th - Brevard Public Schools will be switching over to FOCUS, our new grade reporting system. The Parent Portal will be available for account registration. Please refer to the parent letter and PIN that was sent home in the Thursday folder. Spirit Days are every Friday. Students can earn a PAWS pass for wearing any Longleaf shirt and double PAWS passes for a Longleaf PAWS shirt. The Boosters will continue selling spirit shirts all year long, so pick up yours today at a Booster sponsored event or the front office. YAHOO! We passed the 200 mark on our official Longleaf Facebook page. Please continue to spread the word so we can help everyone stay informed about the many exciting events happening at Longleaf. Thank you for your continued support and involvement! There is strength in teams and our Longleaf team of parents, students, and staff is the best around!
