2 President s Message Donna Abbott, 2015 President February is when we get started with our events and activities for the SWC! The SWC Executive Board has been busy at work planning some new and different events for this year! Stay tuned! Our first social event will be Sip See & Socialize Get Your Sparkle On Mardi Gras style! Come decked out in glitz with your beads, masks and colorful attire! This will be a party with friends and neighbors to see what our club has to offer and enjoy a meal together! Please RSVP to this fun I am excited to announce that Marie Rozman has decided to be the Vice President for our club. Also, Regina Graham has joined the Executive Board. Congratulations and welcome ladies! Ladies, if you have new neighbors or friends in the SB community who you believe would like to join our club, please share our our website: with them to check us out! The Sip, See and Socialize would be an excellent opportunity for you to invite them to learn about our club and meet other neighbors. 5 March TGIF Save the Date: Friday, March 6th Oyster Roast and Low Country Boil The Pavilion and Vickery s at the SB Golf Club Here are some of the details: You won t have to bring an appetizer or your own beverage. Wine and draft beer will be included in your cost of $26/person. We will enjoy oysters at 6:00 on the Pavilion patio and dinner with Low Country Boil and Pulled Pork with sides at 7:00 inside Vickery s. This gives us a unique opportunity to all meet in one location.

7 Interest Group News It s All About Dogs The Dog Network Our first meeting was held on Monday, January 12, Our guest speaker, Ms. Betty Lewis of Berwick Animal Hospital, discussed alternative approaches to veterinary care such as physical therapy, cold laser treatments, acupuncture, acupressure and massage. These alternative treatments are appropriate for dogs or cats suffering from arthritis, as well as those recovering from illness, surgery, or injury. Fourteen members were in attendance, a great turnout! It was an informative evening and quite a lively conversation developed. Our goal is to learn more about caring for our best friends of the furry variety. In the future, we hope to explore: Obedience Training Puppy, Adult and Senior Care Cancer Detection, Treatment and Options Vaccinations First Aid Diet, Exercise, Food and Nutrition How to choose a pet breed for your family/personality Animal Rescue Pet Assisted Therapy Our next meeting is scheduled for Monday, March 9th, at 7:00 pm at a location to be determined. Our speaker will be Dr. Michael Brown from Godley Station Animal Hospital. Please plan on joining us. 8 Southbridge Service By Martha Sauter A group of ladies from the Southbridge Women s Club has formed an interest group dedicated to helping the Savannah Community was our first year in existence and our members participated in activities that benefitted: The Second Harvest Food Bank, Ronald McDonald House, The USO, Safe Shelter, and Hospice Savannah. We sorted and shelved canned goods at the food bank, then gathered for a delicious lunch at a downtown restaurant. Barb Billips was able to get some much needed help from the ladies to provide meals for the Ronald McDonald House at Memorial Hospital. This charity provides a nice place for families with gravely ill children to stay. In November Barb also led a group which cooked turkey breasts and assembled sandwiches to be passed out to military members traveling through the Savannah airport at Thanksgiving. Safe Shelter, which helps abused women, had two needs that we were able to meet. Vicki Chubin held a drive to collect costume jewelry and cell phones for the women at the shelter. The jewelry provides a much-needed boost for the women s spirits. In addition, a wine and cheese party was held at Lori Perdue s home. Donations were collected at the party and given to the shelter to buy school supplies for the children staying there. And finally, the group assisted with a cocktail party which benefitted the Hospice Savannah Summer Nights Campaign. Our group provided delicious appetizers for the party which was held at Rich and Martha Sauter s home. The generous guests donated much needed funds to further the mission of Hospice Savannah. The group recently held a planning meeting for 2015 and will continue to help in the community, while also building friendships. Southbridge Service Group Request Do you have a box of small toiletries in your bathroom collected from past hotel stays? There are a few local charities in our community that could use them. If you would like to help with this cause please drop them off at Martha Sauter s home at 202 Oak Branch Court. There will be a box on the front porch. If you wish, it would also be helpful to include a new package of inexpensive washcloths to go with the toiletries. Donations will be collected February 2, 3, and 4th, and the items will be distributed to local charities that help the homeless.
