1 BLACKHAWK FOR LUNCH AND GAMBLING The van is making the beautiful scenic trip to Blackhawk this month! On our way to Blackhawk we will take the route through the mountains to see the trees changing and fall colors. We will be gone all day so please plan accordingly! The van will leave The Worthington at 8:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 27th. We are splitting the van with residents from The Wexford so please sign-up as soon as you know you would like to go. Seating will be limited! Please plan to bring money for lunch as well as gambling, since we will be eating lunch in Blackhawk. THE WORTHINGTON INPUT MEETINGS Every month, on the third Tuesday at 10:30 a.m., The Worthington Administrative Team and residents of The Worthington gather in the Activity Room for a meeting. Each department head will be present to give you current information on what is happening at The Worthington. They are also available for you to share any questions, opportunities, or feedback you may have. This month the meeting will take place in the Activity Room on Tuesday, September 18th. Watson Lake 4 The Worthington HAPPENINGS The Resident Food Meeting will take place in the Activity Room on Wednesday, September 19th at 3:00 p.m. We invite all to come! Bring your questions or concerns regarding the dining experience and food quality. We would love for you to join us to share compliments and/or suggestions. Worthington Ambassadors Meeting The Worthington Ambassadors are a group of residents who meet monthly to discuss new residents who will be moving into The Worthington. This group acts like our buildings Welcoming Committee and they volunteer to help new residents get acquainted with their new home and help them meet fellow residents. If you would like to become a Worthington Ambassador we would love to have you! This month the meeting will take place in the Private Dining Room on Thursday, September 27th 10:30 a.m. The Worthington Beauty Shop Help us welcome Brooke Baca in the beauty shop! Brooke can provide a variety of services for both men and women. She specializes in haircuts, sets, perms, and waxing! The beauty shop will be open Tuesday through Friday 9:00 am- 2:00 pm. You can schedule your appointment with Brooke at the Front Desk or call her directly at Stop by and meet Brooke and check out all the great services she can offer to you and your family members. My name is Anna Pritchard and I am your new activities intern for the semester. I am originally from Littleton, Colorado, but I made my way up to Fort Collins to study at Colorado State University three years ago. I am a senior at CSU this year, and I will graduate in May. I am studying Human Development and Family Studies as well as business. In my free time, I nanny and have my own professional photography business. I love being active and I love the outdoors, so I try to spend as much time there as possible. I am a coffee fanatic who can easily be found in cute coffee shops and drinking an iced americano. I am so happy to be here, and I cannot wait to get to know each of you more. The Worthington is, truly, a special place! The Worthington September 2018 WALKING CLUB The Walking Club will continue to stay on our weekly calendar as we enter into fall. The group will now be walking the halls of The Worthington instead of going outside. We would love to have you join us! The Walking Club meets every Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. in the Front Lobby. ACTIVITIES WITH CHAPLAIN REBECCA Rebecca McFee, our Columbine Health Systems chaplain, is at The Worthington every Monday afternoon to lead Afternoon Chapel. Her program includes; traditional hymns and inspirational stories. Her program takes place in the Town Hall at 4:00 p.m. Rebecca also leads Questions of Life and Faith, each Thursday at 11:00 a.m. in the Activity Room. Rebecca invites you to stop by and join one of her activities! Besides seeing Rebecca on Monday, you can request one-on-one visits through Rebecca, Tami, or the Front Desk. 1

This year International Housekeeper s Week takes place Sunday, September 9th to Saturday, September 15th. This week we would like to recognize and celebrate the housekeepers who maintain a safe and clean environment at The Worthington! We want to express how thankful the staff and residents are for their hard work and dedication. This week is all about our housekeepers so let s put a smile on their face by expressing our gratitude! FUNDRAISING FOR THE ALZHEIMER S ASSOCIATION It is that time of year again when Columbine facilities raise money for the annual Alzheimer s Walk, taking place Saturday, September 22nd. We are doing a few different activities at The Worthington to raise money for this worthwhile cause. On Monday, September 3rd we will start selling our little paper feet at the Front Desk. Each paper foot is $1.00. When you purchase your foot we will put your name on it and tape it up to the front desk. Our goal is to show our support by covering the whole front desk area with little purple feet. The feet symbolize getting us one step closer to finding a cure for Alzheimer s! On Tuesday, September 18th we have Bingo for the Cause! All money given at Bingo that day will be donated to the Alzheimer s fund. Then on Friday, September 21st we are having Wear Your Purple Day! Wear all the purple you own to support the Alzheimer s Association and anyone you may know who is affected by the disease! We appreciate all your support and efforts in helping us raise money for a good cause! The Worthington September 2018 MENDING SERVICES AT THE WORTHINGTON Please remember, resident Mary Lou McConnell offers a mending service at The Worthington. Mary Lou can assist if you need to have something hemmed or need holes or tears repaired. If you have an item you would like Mary Lou to look at you can call her at or stop by her apartment- Apartment 107. PINOCHLE PLAYERS We are looking for Pinochle players! If you are interested in playing Pinochle or have never played, but would like to learn please see Tami! The game has been added to the monthly calendar, and is played each Tuesday evening at 6:00 p.m. in the Activity Room. WORTHINGTON SPECIAL FEATURE SEARCHING FOR LIFE IN COLORADO SERIES BY KEVIN COOK Kevin Cook, local author and naturalist, joins us for his eighth program of the year Searching for Life in Transition Several alternatives allow wildlife to cope with summer surrendering to winter. Some species simply grow more feathers or fur; some species shed their leaves; some species migrate; some species hibernate; some species simply shelter and wait. September is when so much of these adaptations begin. The program will take place in the Activity Room on Friday, September 7th at 2:30 p.m. Fairgrounds Park Playground

3 BIRDS OF COLORADO LIFE ZONES BY CITY OF FORT COLLINS NATURAL AREAS From the shortgrass prairie, through the foothills, into the mountains, and all the way up to the alpine tundra, a variety of birds can be seen and heard. Explore these lively songsters and their life zones. Presented by the City of Fort Collins Natural Areas, the program will take place in the Activity Room on Friday, September 14th at 2:30 p.m. INSIGHT INTO VISION LOSS BY ENSIGHT SKILLS CENTER Do you or a loved on have macular degeneration, glaucoma, diabetic eye disease, or any type of vision loss or eye disease? If you are dealing with the loss of your vision, Ensight s visual rehabilitation services can help you to optimize the use of remaining vision through training and adaptive aids. Join Ensight for Insight into Vision Loss and learn and understand about available resources, options, and the services Ensight can provide. A representative from Ensight is speaking the Activity Room on Thursday, September 20th. The program will go from 2:30 p.m- 3:15 p.m. We hope to see you there! WORTHINGTON ACTIVITY TRIPS LUNCH AT OLIVE GARDEN A van is heading to Olive Garden for a lunch outing on Thursday, September 6th. Olive Garden has a variety of options including pasta, soup and salad, chicken, steak, and more! The also offer a lunch size menu. Plan to bring money for your meal. The van leaves at 11:30 a.m. ESTES PARK FOR FALL COLORS We are taking a scenic van ride up Highway 34 to Estes Park to see the changing fall colors! Once in Estes we will be stopping at McDonalds for a quick bite. The trip is scheduled for Thursday, September 20th. We leave The Worthington at 10:30 a.m. You can sign-up ion the Activity Book and please bring money for your lunch! BREAKFAST AT BUTTERS Join fellow residents for breakfast out at Butters! Located on East Elizabeth, right by the CSU campus, Butters serves up a variety of options you are sure to like! We are going to Butters on Tuesday, September 25th. The van will leave at 8:30 a.m. Sign-up in the Activity Book!
