This presentation will cover issues currently under consideration by the FCC, such as Lifeline reform, battery backup notice and disclosure requirements, copper retirement notice and disclosure requirements, cyber security, and why the Communications Act update didn t happen in :50am 11:00am REFRESHMENT BREAK 11:00am 11:45am FCC s A CAM RURAL SUPPORT MODEL Dusty Johnson, Vice President of Consulting, Vantage Point Solutions The FCC has the A CAM cost model, which is designed to replace the current high cost support system for both average schedule and cost settlement carriers. The proposed model creates multi million dollar winners and losers, and although the FCC has indicated initial implementation would be voluntary, this is an issue all rural companies should engage on. 11:45am 12:25pm REFORM OF LEGACY USF SUPPORT Chad Duval, Moss Adams LLP For companies that opt not to participate in the Alternative Connect America Cost Model (A CAM), the biggest question is; What will we be opting into? The FCC is in the process of modifying the legacy support mechanisms for rate of return carriers, and recently re iterated a target completion date by the end of This session will focus on the latest discussions (or potentially decisions) on how legacy USF support could be modified to accomplish the FCC s goals for broadband deployment and cost efficiencies. 12:30pm NETWORKING LUNCHEON & RAFFLE Meet the CalCom Lobbyists, Yolanda Benson, Government Strategies, Inc. 1:30pm 2:30pm CYBER SECURITY PART I Michael B. Hetzel, Director Risk Management Services, UNITEL Insurance Group In today s rapidly changing technology age all businesses that utilize the Internet in one way or another are presented with multiple risks. This is especially true for communications companies because they not only provide Internet services to others but they use the Internet themselves to conduct their own internal business. Protection for your Internet based resources must be a top priority. Economic concerns include fraudulent trademark use, copyright implications, intellectual property rights, defamation, and employee misuse of systems, abuse and system security as well as system failures. This presentation will enable you to understand the risks and exposures as well as ways to accept, mitigate or avoid such risks and exposures. 2:30pm 2:40pm REFRESHMENT BREAK 2:40pm 3:40pm CYBER SECURITY PART II Patricia Cave, Director of Government Affairs, WTA Advocates for Rural Broadband This presentation will provide an overview of the National Institute of Standards Technology (NIST) Cyber Security Framework and an update on the work done by the CSRIC IV at the FCC to adapt for the telecommunications industry, specifically through a report released in March. We will also discuss the plan for ongoing Cyber Security efforts that will take place over the next two years.
