3 GREATER DAYTON CORVETTE CLUB (GDCC) Minutes September 18, 2013 President Freddie Haugh called the meeting to order at 7:10 p.m. Thirty-two members were present. ANNOUNCEMENTS/GUESTS None. SECRETARY S REPORT Mike Jones moved the minutes from the August meeting be accepted as written. Seconded by Doris Murph. TREASURER S REPORT Herb Smith provided the report. VICE PRESIDENT S REPORT In Dave First s absence, Freddie called for the following committee reports: SOCIAL Michele Bauer recapped the following: September 19-22: Mid-America Funfest, Effingham, Illinois September 27-28: Route 66 Festival, Springfield, Illinois. October 4-6: Vette Fest, Gatlinburg Tennessee. There are currently eleven cars making the trip. If you would like to have breakfast, meet at the Bob Evans in Centerville at 8:00 a.m. October 6: Boris Tirpack racing at Mid-Ohio. October 19: Boris racing at Nelson Ledges Garrettsville OH. October 20: Restoration Center Color Tour, Springboro. Drivers meeting at 1:00 p.m. and the tour starts promptly at 2:00 p.m. November 7-9: NCM Vets n Vettes is a celebration honoring those who fought for our freedom. Point of contact is Bob Stephens. More information to follow. December 7: Annual banquet and Christmas party at Wyndham Garden South (formerly Holiday Inn) near the Dayton Mall. Call Wyndham directly at if you plan to stay. Rooms are $69.00 which is $20.00 less than last year. Cost of the banquet is $50.00 per couple. Michele motioned that the Christmas party be combined with the banquet. Seconded by Peggy DeLorenzo. Motion carried. More information to follow. If interested in MC duties, contact Michele. Michele asked for a volunteer to put together a slide show for the banquet. Peggy DeLorenzo volunteered. If anyone has pictures from club events/activities from this past year, them to Peggy.
4 December 31: New Year s Eve Party, American Legion, Tipp City. John and Debbie Vanscoy will provide more information. TBD: George and Gloria Hurwitz will plan dinner outs for October and November. MEMBERSHIP: Freddie reported for Carol Tavener that we have 119 members. Carol sent cards to Bob Stephens, Mark Shank, and Nancy Lane. Carol will bring the catalog for anyone interested in ordering shirts to the October meeting. PUBLIC RELATIONS No report. EDITOR/ WEBMASTER No report. NATIONAL CORVETTE MUSEUM (NCM) AMBASSADOR Mike Jones stated that NCM is having a drawing for a Camaro. PRESIDENT S REPORT: Freddie thanked Dean and Carol Tavener for arranging the pontoon ride around Indian Lake and dinner out at Captain s Point. She passed on a thank you from Bob Stephens for the get well cards. Freddie thanked all who participated in the Kettering Holiday at Home parade. Dave First has a doctor s appointment on Friday to schedule another wire insert into his heart. The procedure will occur next week. Freddie received the banner from NCM. She will check with Tony to find out if we can hang it where we have our meeting. OLD BUSINESS Peggy DeLorenzo said that she is retiring as a Chief Master Sergeant with the Air Force after 33 years. If anyone plans to attend her retirement ceremony, contact one of the individuals listed on the announcement. You will need to provide your social security number as a limited background check will be conducted. More information about the party at the Top of the Crowne Plaza will be forthcoming. Tom Murph thanked club members who bought tickets for the Troy Corvette Club s drawing for next week. Butch Hanson thanked the Club for hosting golf holes at the VFW s golf tournament on September 7 and 8. They had 188 golfers. New Business Gary Stein is gathering information for a function that might involve the Club next year. If anyone has pictures from Giovanni s party in June, please them to him.
