Paul Menzel remembered club members who passed away: Herb Weichler, Mike Stapleton, Bruce Lederer, and Jack Monroe. Tom Webber attended the celebration of life of Lorrie Gauthier last week. Ted Witten cited the attendance of North Napa Rotarians at the RF dinner last week. The attendees in addition to Ted and Lil Witten: President Mike, Presidentelect Michael Redman and Presidentelect nominee Suzanne Van Stralen. Siva Yoganathan was happy that her friends from Japan visited her in Napa and also able to attend President Mike and Lavon s Social last Tuesday. Tom Webber thanked President Mike and Lavon for their hospitality in hosting the Fifth Tuesday Social. Kathi Metro had been away for a few weeks and happy she can attend the meeting again. CLUB NOTES Get well cards for Erna Stevenson, George Lundberg, Bill Bresciani, and Leigh Spain circulated at the meeting. President Mike announced that the Fifth Tuesday Social raised more than $100. Or is it $1000? Ted Witten announced that our club won awards at the Rotary Foundation dinner: Award for Every Rotarian Every Year (EREY) for 100% member contribution to the Rotary Foundation (PP Tracy Tinsley s reign) Tracy holds the award and our club is 3rd in the district (District 5130) for per capita contribution to the Rotary Foundation. 4 Tom Webber explained the Little Free Library box. The box will contain books which people can borrow and return. The box needs adornment, Rotary logo. Where to put the box is still being discussed. poverty level in Napa. Ms. Allesio said they expect to serve about 4500 children this year. Napa is a special place, the community gives tremendous support to the outreach program with volunteers, sponsorships, and donations. The families will register ahead of time. Applications are for children 11 years old and under. Qualifying families receive gifts for children and holiday food. Tom Webber HOLIDAY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM The Salvation Army, Catholic Charities, Toys for Tots, Napa Valley Food bank and Queen of the Valley has joined to form one Holiday Assistance Program for Napa County families in need of assistance during the holidays.have joined to form one Holiday Assistance Program for lowincome Napa County families. To preserve the dignity of the families the distribution center is converted into a place like Santa s Toy Shop where the families are greeted with elves and accompany the children who select their own toys Ms. Allesio explained. THE EVENING PROGRAM The American Cancer Society provides information, day to day help, and emotional support to people with cancer and their families, said Susan Korcz, manager, Relay for Life, American Caner Society. Liz Allesio There was an increase of 25% in families who need assistance and seek services last year said Liz Allesio, who represents QVH.Queen of the Valley. There is a high Susan Korcz She said she wished she had known about the resources available and helped her. She lost her mother from breast cancer. American Cancer Society resources can make a lot of difference. PAGE 4

5 Day to Day Help can be available like: helping ride to the doctor or for treatment, wigs for hair-loss and mastectomy products. There are Breast Cancer and Prostate Cancer support groups said Ms. Korcz. What is Relay for Life? Friends, families, and cancer survivors gather and walk around the track together to celebrate the lives of the survivors or in memory of loved ones who lost their lives from cancer. There are 6 Relays for Life this year, said Ms. Korcz. Come to the Relay for Life and find support. be a member of the Relay for Life. Volunteer, cheer the walkers, help clean-up. Be a member it will change your life. This year the Relay for Life will at the Napa Expo instead of Napa Valley College. How can you help?
