1 Valley Volunteers stepped up in October! Valley Volunteers participated in this annual cancer awareness event in downtown Sumner on October 3rd. We had a team walking and another team manned a table at the Ryan House Museum where treats were handed out. The treats had a special label promoting GFWC Valley Volunteers. Ready Set Go!! Our Walkers Treat Central VV Raised $395 for Breast Cancer Care Treat Handlers Here they come! Deadline for Membership Dues October 15 Dues are due now so if you have not already paid, please bring them to the October meeting or mail them to Rita. Full Member, $40. Associate Member $25. 3 Captured Moments Peninsula District Board Meeting October 1, 2015 at Joseppi s in Tacoma. Remember to Vote on upcoming Initiatives and Congressional and State Level Races October 5: Deadline for voter registration and updates October 16: Ballots are mailed out and Accessible Voting Centers open October 26: Deadline for in-person voter registration November 3: General Election Trick or Treat for UNICEF October is our annual contribution to UNICEF. Remember to bring your donation to the October meeting. Page 3
4 2015 Trick or Treat at the Ryan House Museum October 31st, 5 to 7pm Valley Volunteers will use a portion of the October meeting to put special stickers on over 1200 halloween treat bags of pretzels that will be handed out at the Ryan House Museum during downtown Sumner s Street of Treats event Halloween eve. Any members or friends and family that want to help with decorating the porch and lawn, or taking down decorations after the event can contact Rita Loseth. GFWC Valley Volunteers is at the Volunteer Fair! 6th Annual Saturday October 24th Our club will have a table at the Volunteer Fair in Puyallup on Saturday, October 24th. It is at the Fred Oldfield Center by the Red Gate at the Washington State Fair Grounds. This three hour event from 10am to 1pm will be a great way for potential members to learn about GFWC Valley Volunteers and generate support for our projects and an easy way for you to explore volunteer opportunities with other organizations and entities.
