Aid for Wounded Warriors supports VA and military hospitals, the Quality of Life Foundation, Fisher Houses, service dogs for veterans, partner organizations, Veterans of WWII, Korea, Vietnam and other conflicts, and international wounded warriors. We have partners from many different categories of support that provide a continuum of care throughout the quality of life cycle pictured here. While it is important to ensure that basic needs are met, our end goal is to have our current and former service members and their families happy, healthy and enjoying the community. Angela McConnell, Founder - President/CEO At a glance... An all-volunteer organization is made up of volunteers who donate their time and talents because they believe in the mission of. Beyond minimal expenses, all the funds we raise go to charitable causes. As a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, we work with a volunteer board, 11 officers and a membership of dedicated people within our local communities and around the world. Many of our directors and members are retired from the military, which explains our international commitment to Aid for Wounded Warriors. is based in Prince William County, VA, cementing our service to causes from Arlington to Fredericksburg, VA. A history of helping worthy causes The idea for originated with Frank Lasch and Larry Pergerson, who organized a telethon in 1997 to benefit the Girl Scouts, Boys & Girls Clubs, local homeless shelters and other community groups. The next spring, Lasch and Pergerson organized a charity golf tournament on a golf course resplendent with azaleas in bloom. The Classic Pro-Am Invitational Golf Classic was inaugurated in April 1999, with the support of two major sponsors, developer Dean Morehouse and banker Gary Martin. This tournament has been a cornerstone of fund-raising efforts ever since. In June 2004, began Aid for Wounded Warriors. This effort has gained worldwide attention through international contributors and cooperation with charitable organizations in other countries.
