Member Spotlight Margie Karls Margie started with LIFT Wellness Center June of She has been a huge help to the group fitness department. She has gone above and beyond to learn new formats to teach to our members and sub anytime she is asked! Margie always has a smile on her face with a positive can do attitude every time she is here. She is thoughtful and considerate of everyonemembers and staff. We are so grateful Margie chose to instruct group fitness at Lift! Johnny and Kandi D'Ambrosio have been LIFT members since February Johnny and Kandi said, "After we got married we got too comfortable and stopped caring about what we put in our bodies and how we looked. Johnny reached 255lbs, was a borderline diabetic, and insulin resistant." Their doctor expressed that they had to make a lifestyle change and that is when they decided to join LIFT. Since they have joined, they have lost 110lbs together. Kandi said, "At first I went to Zumba, Zumba Step, and Barre classes, which I absolutely loved. However, I didn't like leaving home after I got off work so we made time to start exercising together in the mornings." They consistently inspire one another to keep pushing and working hard. However they also said our very own LIFT staff, Toni and Rachel, have been encouraging them throughout their journey as well. Kandi shared, "The older couples inspire us too, and watching them out work us is humbling." We are so proud that Johnny & Kandi have made their health a priority! October 31st 7am-10am October EVENTS October we cel ebrate Women and their heal th! Every year we host the Annual Girl's Night out to not only bring awareness to women's health but for a fun filled evening for ladies to come enjoy themselves! We will start off with snacks and a Q&A session with Dr. Kim Howerton! So bring your questions! Following the Q&A Abby Mays our LIFT will be telling you all about Diet Myths! After the two sessions our Group Exercise will host a Ride & Run mini class (bring or wear workout clothes if you want to participate) to get your hearts pumping, this class can be modified for all levels! We hope you will bring your girlfriends, moms, daughters, coworkers or any women in your life! We will also have a few vendors on site! So bring your wallets! This event is FREE & Open to the community but you must register as seating is limited! Call to register! October is Childhood Obesity Month It's already October, and anyone with young kids knows that they are probably counting down the days until Halloween when they can hit the streets and hopefully walk away with a few pounds of free candy. This is a
4 tradition that isn't going anywhere anytime soon, so as parents, it is important to make sure that your kids are balancing out all that candy with a healthy diet and plenty of exercise. Did you know that childhood obesity has more than doubled in children and quadrupled in adolescents in the past 30 years?obesity in children is usually the result of a caloric imbalance, where they are simply eating more calories than they are burning through physical exercise. Although it is tough, and kids will put up a fight, it is important to cut down their intake of processed and high-sugar foods while increasing their intake of fruit and vegetables. This, coupled with plenty of playing outside, will help get your children well on their way to being healthy and fit. Kids are like sponges...if they see mom and dad regularly fitting a workout into their day and eating plenty of produce then, they may be much more likely to do the same in their later years. If you want to start being a better role model through weight management and healthier living, ask us about our program options. If you feel you are ready to take action, and would like to lose weight or just begin leading a healthier lifestyle, be sure to ask about our brand new program LIFT Weight Management, an HMR Program. You can call or HMRLiftCenter@wth.org for more information. Did you know we have a Bootcamp Class that meets 3 days a week? Boot Camp is a intense cross training style, highintensity Interval training that combines cardio, strength training, plyometrics, TRX and bodyweight exercises that are designed to increase strength, endurance, and metabolic conditioning while decreasing body fat. This class is designed to push people a little bit further than they would normally push themselves in the gym FREE LIFT Wellness Center Membership through the end of November when you join LIFT Weight Management in October or November! Make your health a priority!

This year Crystal Harris, Jennifer Hale, Charles Atkinson & Christopher Downen helped at the tournament hosted at Northside High School! Check out all of the kids with their awards!

10 September Update During the month of September, LIFT donated 1520 bowls of food to animals in need! Thank you LIFT for caring and helping others! This October, every 3 check-ins at LIFT Wellness Center will help provide 1 woman access to a breast cancer risk assesment. We're working with Causely and Bright Pink to make it happen. You can add #breastcancerawareness when you check in to promote the cause. For more information about this month's charity, check out P.S. If you haven't heard of Sweat Angels, here's how it works... Sweat Angels makes a donation to a great cause every time our members check-in on Facebook. Thousands of gyms use Sweat Angels, and that's why they're able to make such a large impact each month.
