3 MS Support Group at the -Moderate 9:00 AM 3:00 PM LOCATION INTENSITY MONDAY TUESDAY WEDNESDAY THURSDAY FRIDAY Intensity Descriptions Intensity Level I: This class is suitable for participants who may not have exercised before, have not exercised in a long time or for those individuals who have recently completed the SMART In-Home program. Level I is for people with significant limitations to exercise who require close supervision. Participants level of mobility and ability is low. Most of the exercises are performed in a seated position. Level II: This class is suitable for participants that have a moderate level of ability and mobility and can follow instructions well. Individuals may have some limitations and require a moderate level of supervision. Participants have been or are used to being physically active. This class may incorporate a combination of standing and seated exercises but, where possible, Level II participants are encouraged to do more standing throughout the duration of the class. Level III: This class is suitable for participants that have good understanding of structured exercise programming and have a high level of ability and mobility. Individuals have few limitations and are able to manage well incorporating options for progression. Disclaimer: The SMART program is designed so that any participant can attend any of the sites that are most convenient for them. The class format can be modified for different levels of mobility and ability. The intensities listed above serve only as a guideline. Any participant has the option to sit for a portion of the class or the entire session.

Facilitated by a certified fitness instructor, the SMART FUN-ctionally Fit class focuses on combining components of cardiovascular conditioning, strength training, muscle endurance, agility, balance, stretching and relaxation. Participants will learn how to improve posture and maximize their potential to move well and move more confidently through activities of daily living. Let s get Fit and have Fun together! Class format is modified for both seated and standing participants. VON SMART Move Well Move More Specialty Classes: VON SMART Move 2 Be Strong with Parkinson s is a FREE on-going weekly exercise class specifically for people who have Parkinson s Disease (caregivers are also welcome to attend and participate). Facilitated by a certified fitness instructor, this minute class includes components of endurance, strength, balance, agility/coordination and flexibility. This is a seated class and integrates mind-body activities. Please consult your healthcare provider about whether this VON SMART class is right for you. VON SMART Move 2 Be Strong Stroke/Acquired Brain Injury is a FREE on-going weekly exercise class specifically for people who have suffered a mild, non-debilitating stroke/brain injury (caregivers are also welcome to attend and participate). Facilitated by a certified fitness instructor, this minute class focuses on maintaining and improving recovered function. Focus is given to movement and activities which help to enhance balance, muscle strength, bone health, mobility, cardiovascular fitness and quality of life. Please consult your healthcare provider about whether this VON SMART class is right for you.

5 VON SMART Move 2 Be Strong - Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a FREE on-going weekly exercise class specifically for people who have MS. Facilitated by a certified fitness instructor, this minute class includes components of endurance, strength, balance, agility/coordination and flexibility. This is a seated class and integrates mind-body activities. Please consult your healthcare provider about whether this VON SMART class is right for you. There is also an educational component incorporated into the program that focuses on reasons for falls and strategies to prevent them, thus tipping the scales away from frailty in favour of strength, independence and quality if life.
