1 WOODBROOK LIONS Woodbrook is joining Fuel Up to Play 60 to bring you exciting Wellness Opportunities this year. Fuel Up to Play 60 program and website that offers students tools and information to use to promote wellness for themselves, at home and the community. Wellness Wednesdays the 1 st day of the every month o Interesting & Healthy Food Tastings at Lunch featuring foods from around the world o Promoting healthy choices at lunch o All School Walks Stability balls, Stability Boards and Desk Bike options in the Media Center (maybe your teacher will want to try them in the classroom too!) Funding for New Playground Equipment in 2017 We are looking for Student Ambassadors to help the Woodbrook Wellness Committee in implementing Fuel Up to Play 60 and the Fitness Around the World Program at Woodbrook. If you are a motivated student that wants to help Woodbrook be healthy and will encourage your peers and help when needed (during school hours generally although we may call on volunteers for outside of school activities as well) then please fill out the form in the packet and turn it into your teacher by October 1. (Parents and Students please check out the Fuel Up to Play 60 website at FuelUpToPlay60.com. Parents may sign up as adults and select Woodbrook by typing in the zip of and then selecting Woodbrook. Students may also sign up online but we are still learning about the student interface and will have more direction later. (If needed, the student team name for challenges is Forever Fit Woodbrook Lions.) Parent s for Communication Parent s Signature Please turn this into your teacher by October 1. Depending on how many interested students we have we will determine the best way to work with students as student ambassadors. We do not have a limit on how many students can be student ambassadors. 3 Woodbrook s Fitness Around The World Program Join Woodbrook in Making Healthy Decisions Every Day! As part of Fuel Up to Play 60, we want to encourage students to be active 60 minutes every day. Some of that activity happens at school, but students need to be active outside of school as well. Students can earn miles in Woodbrook s Fitness Around the World Program so that the school can travel around the world together. We will be tracking class participation and recognizing classes with strong activity levels in different ways throughout the year. If Woodbrook can complete it s around the world route of 42,000 miles there will be an all-school reward at the end of the year! (The circumference of the earth at the equator is 24,901 miles but our route through countries is approximately 42,000 miles). Students earn double miles for an activity if a parent, babysitter, etc. does the fitness activity with them! Students turn in their month tracker to their teacher within 5 days after the end of the month. Student Ambassadors will help their teacher track their classes progress and to report it for all school reporting each month as well. Questions can be ed to Mary Munson at marymunson@yahoo.com.
