2 Governor s Message No message this month. Chris Cornwell Governor Administrator & Membership Message Dear Members, Happy New Year to all. A lot of us will be making new year resolutions to start off the new year. I normally do not make any resolutions just because it s the new year. I feel if I need any changes in my life, I just try to make them whenever I feel it is needed. But I guess if you want to follow tradition and do it on New Year s Day, go for it. With this said, I have decided to make a resolution and ask that all of you to do the same. I resolve to re-dedicate myself to the principles and purposes of the Loyal Order of Moose. I resolve to try a little harder to support the children at Mooseheart and the seniors at Moosehaven. I remember almost twenty-four years ago when I was enrolled into the Loyal Order of Moose that I placed my left hand over my heart and I raised my right hand and pledged to support our Child City and our City of Contentment. The Governor told us what our obligations as a Moose Member would be and asked if we were willing to accept these obligations. I and the other members of the class responded, "I Do". Some of these obligations were to give of our time, energy and substance. I knew what time and energy was but wasn't sure what was meant by substance. I soon found out it meant Money. So, I started to volunteer my time at the lodge at different lodge functions. During the times that I volunteered my time I gave of my energy, and swept the floors, washed dishes, made repairs, helped with the lodge clean up days and so on. I then found out that on a regular basis the Nine O Clock ceremony would be conducted and a collection for the Endowment Fund would be done. The Governor also told us that we would be obligated to strengthen and maintain our defending circle. This meant that we would sponsor new members into our order and do our best to retain them year after year. Over the years I have had the pleasure to visit Mooseheart and Moosehaven and have seen firsthand what my and all other Moose Member's Time, Energy and Substance has provided. For those of you who have visited these two cities, you know what I am talking about. For those who has not had the opportunity please believe me, we are doing wonderful things for the children and seniors that are in our care. The Loyal Order of Moose has been around for over 129 years. It is up to you and I if we want the Moose to continue to grow and prosper. So, I resolve to continue giving of my time, energy and substance. Will you? Until next month, Kenny Head Administrator Fellowship Committee January s meeting will be held on January 11 th, :00 p.m. The 3 rd Saturday of the month the Fellowship Committee prepares dinner as one of our fund raisers throughout the year. Check with for January s dinner to be held on Saturday January 20 th. Your Editor Senior Regents Message The Mid Year Conference is getting closer, and the dates are from the 19 th to 21st, I can t wait to see those familiar faces I don t get to see often! The will be having their Board Meeting on the 10 th if you want to present a proposal for any project or event, this would be the time to do so, just remember ALL projects and events being presented have to be a proposal in writing. Also, our regular Meetings will be on the 3 rd and 17 th of this month, please come join us, all welcome!! We would love to see you there. The Super Celebration will be the day of the Dinner on the 27 th and we will be having a lil bit of Louisiana cook in in the house, Cajun style. That s right! Be ready for some more CAJUN SHRIMP CREOLE with a side salad. Well... that s it for now, stay dry, warm and safe, until next time. Carol Price Senior Regent
3 Moose Legion Committee (MLC) HAPPY NEW YEAR!! Our next regular meeting will be on Saturday, January 6 th. We try to have something a little different for the MLC evening dinners (suggestions welcome) than normally available at the lodge So why not come and try it out, heck you might even enjoy it! This Saturday s meal will be Shrimp & Sausage on Rice, with Salad & Dessert. The social hour, with free drinks, will start at 4:30 and meeting will follow at 5:30pm. If anyone would like to contribute an appetizer or snack for the social hour, feel free to do so. So, all Moose Legion Members, and their Special Ladies, please come enjoy a couple of your favorite drink with a snack, attend our short meeting, have a delicious inexpensive family dinner and listen to live music. What is there to dislike about participating! Woodbridge is hosting the Bull Run Moose Legion Winter Celebration on January 27 th. (It has been several years since we have hosted a celebration.) The Chairman will need a few of our Woodbridge Moose Legionnaires to help setting up, supplying a few activities and one Legion Meal. I hope that Woodbridge have a few candidates for Conferral and some of our Legionnaires actual attend and witness the NUMBER ONE INTERNATIONAL MOOSE LEGION RITUAL TEAM perform, whom OUR OWN KENNY HEAD is a member of. So try to sponsor someone you know to join our Higher Order of the Moose. The Committee is asking it members and Ladies to think up enjoyable activities, or such, for our Lodge Moose Legion. Remember that our mandates are to help strengthen our Lodge and Moose Fraternity, to try to do some good thing for someone each day, and to have fun doing so!
