2 Loyal Order of Moose Lodge Capital Circle NW Tallahassee, FL Volume 70, Issue 4 Newsletter Date April 2016 POOL TOURNAMENTS Every Wednesday Night 7:30 pm Greetings from the Governor - Carl Crayton Greetings From your Governor: Well, June is here and it already seems like it was just January. It is also a time when participation drops off either from people traveling or because it's just too hot to go anywhere. We have our new Officers in place as well as the WOTM. I must say I'm extremely proud and impressed by our new Senior Regent. She has already, from day one, stepped up and came out of the gate strong. Rather it's working in bingo or cooking in the kitchen. I believe with her fresh ideas and her work ethic, we as a Lodge will have a big year. But we need participation from not only our volunteers but our members as well. Please come out and support your lodge and the functions we have started planning. We certainly have one of, if not the nicest, lodges around and it's a shame that some nights we are completely dead. We plan to place a suggestion box in the Social Quarters and would love to hear your thoughts on what we could offer you, our members. Please keep in mind that there is no such thing as a bad idea but we have to abide by Moose International By Laws and be financially responsible as well. We met our membership goal last year but it came down to the wire. Please let's try and stay ahead of the game this year. So bring a friend, a neighbor or a coworker and show them our lodge and let them know not only how they benefit but what we do for this community as well. Also share with them our school for children, Mooseheart and our Senior community Moosehaven. And welcome our guests and new members. Introduce yourself, shake their hands and invite to become part of a great team. We, of course, always need volunteers. Ask someone how to get involved. You are cheating yourself and will never get the full benefits and the great warm feeling of being part of a great team if you are not involved. The strength of the team is each individual member. The strength of each member is the team. Thank You, Carl Crayton
3 Page 3 From the Senior Regent Well the New Year has started off on a high note. I now have all of my officers, appointed officers and chairmen installed except for an Assistant Guide. If you are interested in the Assistant Guide position please let me know. I would like to welcome our new Co-worker and Thank her Sponsor. Maria Hofer Sponsor - Marie Messerschmidt All of the committees have had their first meeting and I am looking forward to seeing what types of projects are going to be requested. I know whatever the project we will have a great time. June is our Community Service committee month. Our first meeting will be on June 9, The chapter night meeting starts at 7pm but come early and have refreshments at 6:30 pm, and visits with your fellow co-workers. Our 2 nd meeting of the month is on June 23, 2016 at 7 pm. I hope to see all of your smiling faces at the meetings. COMING EVENTS June 3, 2016 Dinner Fried Chicken June 12, 2016 District meeting in Wakulla at 11am June 17, 2016 Dinner Country Fried Steak June 19, 2016 Father s Day Brunch International Convention begins on July 1-5, The Moose are going to Raise the Roof in St. Louis, Missouri, I hope to see you there. Martha A Mckown Senior Regent
4 Page 4 Greetings from your Administrator Well the new fiscal year has begun and it looks like it going to be a fun filled and very productive year. Our new Sr. Regents, Martha McKown, has really stepped up and has a lot of new and exciting ideas to make our Lodge better. Last fiscal year Tallahassee Lodge 1075 had a banner year in doing what we are here for. Moose Lodges exist primarily to support Mooseheart and Moosehaven and also to support provide community service by supporting other local charities. Last fiscal year, Tallahassee Moose Lodge donated $51,998 to the Mooseheart & Moosehaven Endowment Fund. We also donated another $16,000 to Moose Charities to support Special Olympics, Youth Awareness and Safe Surfin. And to top things off, Tallahassee Moose Lodge donated an addition $168,092 to other local charities. All total, The Tallahassee Moose Lodge 1075 donated $236,090 last fiscal year to charity. This, we could not have done without all our dedicated members who volunteer their time every Friday and Sunday working Bingo. If anyone in this Lodge deserves a pat on the back for a job well done, it is all our Bingo volunteers. You all know the real reason we are here and your volunteer time makes us #1. I cannot begin to tell all of you how proud I am of each and every one of you. Without your dedication and support, our success as a Moose Lodge would be minimal. Please let all our Bingo volunteers know how much we appreciate them because without them we would not be able to afford this big beautiful facility we have and provide all the fun activates we have all come to enjoy.. Thank you Bingo Volunteers from the bottom of my heart. 8 Page 8 PRICE INCREASE NOTICE Due to the increase in cost from our Liquor, Beer and Wine Distributors over the last couple of years, we are forced to increase the selling price of all our alcoholic beverages by 25 cents across the board. This increase will be effective June 15, For example, the price of our basic domestic bottle and can beer will increase from $2.25 to $2.50. All other beer prices will also increase by 25 cents. The cost of a basic well liquor drink will increase from $2.50 to $2.75. Liquor call and premium drinks will also increase by 25 cents. The cost of our basic wine drink will increase from $3.25 to $3.50. As I am sure you are aware, even with this increase, our alcoholic drink prices are much lower than the average bar prices anywhere else.
9 Page 9 Guess who this is? Why it is one of the LOOM Board of Officers, Trustee Frank Faircloth, trying to get something out of the claw machine. He did finally get something out however he did get caught red handed on film. No getting out of this one Frank. Just kidding. The kid that got it after it got hung up says Thank You
