1 October 2017 Volume 23, Issue 10 Newsletter of the Community Cultural Center of Tonasket POLLY O KEARY HERE THIS SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 30 Okanogan county native Polly O Keary is returning with her band the Rhythm Method on September 30. Polly is a six-time Washington Blues Society Best Female Vocalist and a four-time Best Songwriter. Midwest Entertainment News says, This hard hitting, primal rocker knows her mind and heart...polly O Keary can blaze her own trail and beat all comers to the finish line...excellent stuff. The CCC is so excited to host Polly! Tickets will be available at the door: $12 for members and $15 for non-members. A meal, graciously created by Buffalo Mazzetti, will be available for purchase for $8. The meal will start at 5:30 pm Concert starts at 7 pm. SEATTLE THEATERSPORTS COMING SATURDAY, OCTOBER 7! Seattle TheaterSports is a team of professional improvisational actors. They take audience suggestions and create spontaneous, hilarious scenes on the fly that are so hilarious, quickwitted and perfectly constructed, it's hard to believe they are made up on the spot. They are Seattle s longest running show and a perennial favorite there. Sarah Kaiser, director of theater productions at the CCC, has persuaded these fine actors to make their Tonasket debut at the CCC! We want to fill the house, so please mark this on your calendar, call your friends, spread the word...and be ready for an evening of unpredictable humor that only improv can provide. The content of this show is family friendly. Theater Sports will be here on Saturday, October 7 from 7-9 pm. Tickets will be available at the door, open seating with theater open at 6:30. Refreshments will be sold during intermission. Ticket prices are $10 for members, $12 for non-members, $8 for students. The troupe will be offering an Improv Skills Workshop on Sunday, October 8 from 12:00 to 1:30. The workshop is open to teen and adult actors. Please call the office at if you are interested. 4 HISTORY SERIES CONTINUES WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 11 Please join Doug Woodrow for a discussion on the life and work of famed photographer Frank S. Matsura. Matsura documented much of the early history of the Okanogan with his beautiful and evocative photography. Also, on November 8, James Moore and Carol Ogilvie will present information on The McLaughlin Canyon Ambush. The presentations are free to the public and begins at 6 pm. The CCC will offer refreshments for a donation. ANNUAL AUCTION COMING SATURDAY, OCTOBER 28 Each year the CCC has an auction to help support it s operations through the winter. This year s auction will be held October 28, Doors will open at 4:30, silent auction will begin at 5 pm and close at 7pm. A dinner will be prepared by Jerry Bradley and will begin at 6 pm. The live auction will begin with approximately 30 items for your bidding pleasure! We are currently seeking donations from our community of artists and crafts people to be featured in this year s event. Please call the CCC at if you would like to contribute. PLEASE WELCOME OUR NEW OFFICE ASSISTANT, PATTY CARLSON Patty was raised in Malott and attended college in California and at the University of Washington. She later followed her Navy husband to New England and Virginia locations for over five years, returned to the Seattle area, then moved back to Eastern Washington with her two sons and has resided in Tunk Valley for over 30 years. Patty's work history has mainly been as a legal secretary, but she worked for seven years at Okanogan Behavioral Healthcare transcribing for the psychiatrist and as a case manager. Patty's hobbies include gardening, quilting, knitting, reading, sketching and fishing. She is excited about becoming an integral part of the Community Cultural Center and its contributions to the Tonasket community and surrounding areas. Now that Patty has been hired, the CCC will be open three days a week! Our new hours are Monday from 9 am to 3 pm; Tuesday from 9 am to 4 pm and Thursday from 9 am to 4 pm. Please stop by on Mondays or Tuesdays and welcome Patty to our community. Don t forget we have WIFI in our nice, comfy lobby.
