1 PHONE: (972) Lydia Kay Patterson October 28, October 24, 2009 Lydia Kay Patterson, age 60, of Little Elm, Texas, passed away October 24, 2009, in Little Elm. Lydia was born October 28, 1948, in Sherman, Texas, to Howard Houston and Dolly Shirley (Edwards) Welch. She married Donald Patterson on August 9, 1968, in Taft, Texas. Lydia worked in the insurance business for a number of years. She is survived by her husband, Donald of Little Elm; daughter, Kimberly Gonzales of Frisco, Texas; grandsons, Drew Gonzales, David Gonzales, and Devin Gonzales; sister, Linda Myers and her husband, Sam of Calallen, Texas; brother, R. B. Welch and his wife, Mary Ruth of McKinney, Texas; niece, Rebecca Warren; and nephews, Colin Welch and Sam Myers. She was preceded in death by her parents. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 30, 2009 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Frisco, Texas. Memorials Dearest Kay, Almost a year has gone by. Still, I can hear the caring tone in your voice, the familiar sound of your laughter. I couldn't have asked for a truer friend. Though sadness lingers, I am glad for the memories. PHYLLIS BOYD WILLIAMS, OCTOBER 30, 2009 I first met Kay when she & I began working Tenet in I remember thinking, WOW, I hope I'm that fiesty when I get to be her age. She was the first one in the office every morning, and would have all the coffee pots full and ready to go for the rest of the office. She often told us stories of growing up with her siblings. I remember her telling me of a time when she and her twin sister would play nurse with some Red Hot candies, and how Linda would always say "One for the patient, and Two for the nurse," and Kay would say...guess who was the nurse. She often spoke of Don, Kim, the boys, Patty, and her dogs as she affectionately called "the kids". I will miss sharing animal crackers and popcorn with her, and always saying "Kay, do you have some Tylenol?" She had everything in the world in that desk and always shared it with whomever needed it. Kay was not just a coworker, she was family. I will miss her deeply and look forward to seeing her again in heaven! Don, Kim, Drew, David, Devin, and Patty - my prayers are with you. Thank you for sharing your angel on earth with us. MARRICHA RONEY, OCTOBER 29, 2009 Kay and I worked together for about five to six years in Carrollton and McKinney. We always helped each other out in any way possible. She was my best friend. She and I shared the birth of my child and several of her

3 grandchildren. She was always their for you when you needed a hug or a shoulder to cry on. She always made me feel like part of her family and vise versa. Even down to our dogs (which happen to be sisters). I still am in shock over this tragedy. She was so much like a second mom to me. We shared so many great memories together. I love her dearly. I feel in many aspects that all the people in our lives that mean so much to us are always taken away too soon. She will be dearly missed. Robin Clem ROBIN CLEM, OCTOBER 28, 2009 Kay and I became friends when I went back to work for Tenet in the NMC department in August My desk and Kay s desk at work are beside each other. Kay and I talked everyday at work, and we shared our break times. We always shared things that were going on in our lives with one another. She shared many memories with me of her family and friends. She always spoke of her husband Don, her daughter Kim, her wonderful friend Patty, her brother Barry and her twin sister. I always felt that Kay was more than just my friend, she was my family. She always knew when I was having a rough day, she would be over at my side of the desk waiting to give me a hug, give me a kiss on the cheek and say I love you. And, I knew when she too, was having a rough time, I d be waiting for her with a hug, a kiss and an I love you to. She loved everyone, she had no enemies. I am truly honored and blessed to have had the privilege to have known her. I wrote this for her in her memory: Muah! I love you! Muah! I love you, you said as you threw your arms around me, Your heart opened wide, which you wore on your sleeve for all to see, You brought joy and love to everyone who knew you, You were a great friend, who listened,

4 and cared about everyone and what they were going through, You always had a way of making me smile and laugh all the time even when I was blue, You laughed with me, cried with me, like only the greatest friend would do, You are my friend and my sister and now that you re gone there is little I can do but say to you, Muah! I always admired the fact that she always made everyone feel special. She was never afraid to express her feelings of how much she cared to all of us. Though miles separated us over the years, that bond of friendship never waivered. The sweet reunion in heaven with your mother and daddy must have been something special. Though God has taken you from us, you and I know we will meet again. We talked about what heaven would be like many times. I find it so hard to believe this moment has come. Lydia, Linda and I spent endless "sleepovers" together. When you and Linda lost your own parents, you "adopted" mine as your own. I always loved you for that! You will always be in my heart. Your light will forever shine on those of us left behind. I will miss you so much. My prayers and thoughts are with Don and Kim and Barry. Don, just know that she is with Jesus now and surrounded by love.

5 LINDA SIMMONS, OCTOBER 27, 2009 I worked with Lydia at tenet and she was my lunch buddy! She was a very sweet lady! When she would go to new york she would always bring me something back. She was a loving careing person and she will always be in my heart! ANESIA J MCSHAN, OCTOBER 27, 2009 We became Nanny and Poppy to Lydia when she lost her parents. She was so special and we never doubted her love for us., nor did she doubt our love for her and her Husband and Daughter. We are heartbroken that this shining light has gone out in our lives, but we will see her again."let not your hearts be troubled," John 14:1-4. It is hard to believe that someone so animated and vivacious is gone. I went to school with Linda and Lydia and graduated with them from Taft High School. Lydia (Kay, to some) certainly made things more fun growing up in Taft, Texas and I am sorry she is gone from all of us. Even though she, and Don and Kim, moved to the Dallas area in the early 1980's, distance never dampened our friendship. We shared our lives with each other for 35 years...a long time, yet not long enough. Kay was one of those rare people who never met a stranger. Every morning Kay would have coffee made and placed in one of the empty cubicles ready for all the coffee drinkers. What ever you needed, Kay had it, she shared everything. She loved to eat popcorn, she would had the office smelling like butter popcorn. You could always count on her to give you a hug, kiss, and say I love you. She loved her family very much, she talked about them all the time.we shared

6 many stories together, her friendship with Patty, the beginning years of her marriage to her wonderful husband, Kim and her grandchildren, and of course her dog. She will forever be in my heart, she reminded me of how to love everyone with a pure heart. I will miss you Kay.
