2 Nancy Lowe was one of the first persons I had the privilege of meeting and getting to know at the Region XV Education Service Center. Nancy was an outstanding contact person for all levels of education. Nancy was knowledgeable, enthusiastic, innovative, and personable. Nancy's use of educational jargon was impressive. And I felt like I was going in the right direction after consulting with Nancy Lowe. I taught English and Reading Improvement at Glenn Junior High School, and whenever she came to our campus, I was anxious to glean from her the latest research-based approaches to teaching reading. From a professional and personal point of view, I am thankful that our teaching careers intermingled. With respect, Sondra Orr SONDRA AILEEN ORR, AUGUST 18, 2005 In loving memory of Nancy Lowe. In the school year of 1968, our son, Kenneth Barrows, was lucky to be accepted into the Learning Disability class at Santa Rita Elementary here in San Angelo, Texas. He was especially lucky to be a student of a special teacher named Nancy Lowe. Kenneth had spent his first years in elementary classes taught by teachers who did not have the patience or understanding of his slow learning, his hyperactive traits and his many absent days (useally due to pretending to be sick so he wouldn't have to go to school). From that moment on our problems were lessoned with Nancy's help. The following year we were lucky again when Nancy transfered to John Glenn Junior High & was able to help us enroll Ken in that school (even though we were not in that district). With her help he was accepted into the Vocational Program & also remained in Nancy's resource classes. Ken sucessfully finished his junior high years at Glenn & enrolled in San Angelo Central High School. Nancy helped us with the choice of teachers & also made it possible for him to continue vocational classes. Ken graduated from Central in 1975 & became the owner & overseerer of our businesses (apartments, motels, bars & storage rooms). His talents are many & his personality has gained him many friends over the years. We thank the Lord each day for Nancy's help as a teacher & friend. Ken married Teresa West in 1976 & they are the parents of 2 sons - James 26 & John 24. Sincerely yours, Jonnie Burrell & Kenneth
3 Barrows JONNIE L. BURRELL, AUGUST 18, 2005 I can't remember exactly when I first met Nancy. I visited the Lowe's home in the 700-block of Koberlin in San Angelo, usually to see Dana. However, I remember being struck by the energy and love in that little house, in large part radiating from Nancy. I'm sorry I wasn't able to stay in touch with Nancy or Dana, but I'm glad my mother sent me a clipping of her obituary in the San Angelo Standard-Times. May I offer condolences on behalf of my mother, Christine Young; and my brother, Randy Young; and myself. MICHAEL GLENN YOUNG, AUGUST 14, 2005 To Karl and your family, I would like you to know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. I will always remember Nancy as one of our "Band Moms" at CHS. She was a wonderful lady. God Bless! CONNIE GUTIERREZ RIOS, AUGUST 12, 2005 Karl, I remember being at your house and your mother baking cookies for us to take with us I believe on a band trip. She was a very sweet person. WILLIAM A CARTER, AUGUST 12, 2005 Nancy was a special colleague and friend. CLYDE D WARREN, AUGUST 11, 2005 We "old timers" at ESC Region XV remember Nancy so well. She treated everyone fairly and made our life richer for knowing her. She always had a witty comment. My sympathy to the family. BEVERLEY TEAGUE, AUGUST 11, 2005 You have my deepest sympathy in the passing of Nancy. I taught with her at Glenn Junior High and was in the same chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma. She was a wonderful, very admired lady who taught me many things about being a teacher. I will never forget her sensational sense of humor and her ability to find humor in a situation. I have many wonderful memories of Nancy and will miss her. LYNN EDDY GRANZIN, AUGUST 11, 2005 Bobbe, Terry, Dana, Karl & Family, I was saddened to hear that Nancy passed
4 away. I admired and loved her very much, even though the miles between us didn't allow a personal relationship. You were so fortunate to have her as your Mother and friend. You will never miss her any less than you do today; with God's help you will learn to live with it and look forward to seeing her again some day. Deepest sympathy and much love. God Bless! Joan JOAN M. BARINGER, AUGUST 11, 2005 Nancy was a wonderful friend and mentor to me when I taught in San Angelo. Her enthusiasm and dedication has remained an inspiration throughout my career in education. ALICE COX, AUGUST 10, 2005 Hello. I was so sorry to read of Nancy's death. I worked with Nancy at Region XV for many years. She was a great lady and true educator. She was also the person who nominated me for Delta Kappa Gamma membership. I have many memories of traveling the roads of Region XV with Nancy. I saw her a year or so ago when she stopped by the ESC to visit her old friends. I extend to my deepest sympathies. We will miss her too. JUDY BETH MEADOR LISEWSKY, AUGUST 10, 2005 Dear Bobbe and Family, We were so sorry to hear of your loss. I won't be able to come to the viewing or funeral as I have my brother, Clayton, staying with me for a while. I will come and see you for sure next week if I get him moved by then. I know how it feels to loose your mom!!! Jesus says though in John 14:18,"I will not leave you as orphans.' That verse was and is a comfort to me as I considered myself orphaned after my mom died. There is blessed assurance for those of us that believe in Jesus Christ, that if our family members believe in Jesus also, we will see them again!!! That seems to help make the pain a little less. Bobbe, we will be praying for you during this time and we will see you soon. God Bless You. MARSHA JEWELL JOHNSON, AUGUST 10, 2005 So many memories! Nancy was a very special friend. I'll always remember her quick wit and contagious laughter. My heart and thoughts are with you today. WILDA JO ABBOTT, AUGUST 10, 2005
5 Karl, I'm so sorry to see the loss of your Mom on the San Angelo paper website. You are in my thoughts. I know it has been many years since we have seen or talked to each other, but I just wanted to let you know I am thinking about you. SUSAN O'BRIANT (MAGILL), AUGUST 10, 2005 We will never forget the glorious evening of celebration in San Diego when we shared in the excitement of the induction ceremony of her son Karl - into the WGI Hall of Fame - emblematic of his accomplishments in the world of pageantry. She was so proud! It was 2 teachers, Mom & son, sharing their love for what they do and for each other.
