1 PHONE: (972) Col. James G. Luehrs M.D. May 20, June 14, 2005 Dr. James Gerhardt Luehrs, 73 unexpectantly passed away June 14, 2005 in Plano. Born May 20, 1932 in Ontario, Oregon to Karl G. and Betty (Wells) Luehrs. Dr. Luehrs was a retired Colonel with 27 years of military service. He was a surgeon with first the Navy and then the Army during his long, proud career. Dr. Luehrs was a veteran of the Vietnam War and was called back to service for Operation Desert Storm. He was credited with starting the Army s first Emergency Medicine Residency program. He had a private practice in Texarkana in the 1980 s and after Desert Storm moved to the Dallas area working in emergency medicine. In 1999, opened East Park Medical Clinic. He is survived by his wife, Sandra L. Luehrs of East Plano; daughters, Kristen Garrison (Greg), Ginnifer Garrison (Bryon) of Rowlett; Elizabeth Luehrs of E. Plano; Daena Skolbolski (Del) Spokane, WA; sons, Kevin Luehrs (Patty) Lewisville, CO and Michael Luehrs (Eva) Oregon. Ten grandchildren: Katherine, Betsy, Kevin, Grif, Carly, Vevaka, Lauren, Emerson, Landry and Landon. Dr. Luehrs leaves behind many beloved patients, his office staff Tanya Green and Chere Willmon and dear, dear friends. He will be missed by us all yet his memory will live on in our hearts. A memorial service will be held at 10:00AM Saturday, June 18, 2005 in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel with Mr. Rick Duffield officiating. Memorials I worked with Dr Luehrs both at the original Oak Knoll NH in 1967 and subsequently at the NSA Station Hospital in DaNang in '67 and '68. I was a navy corpsman who completed training as an OR technician at Oak Knoll. It was the dedication and professionalism of this man and others who helped me

2 decide to pursue my own career in medicine. I will always be in his debt. The world needs more like him and I regret his passing 10 years ago. Shortly thereafter I became very ill. I remember sitting in a parking lot on a Saturday crying because I was so sick and didn't know where to go for help. God brought me to you and immediately I found comfort and peace in your practice. I've gone to you ever since. You were my doctor, my friend and a great listener. You will be greatly missed. My thoughts and prayers are with your family, friends and office staff. In Peace. JODI GRADY, JULY 26, 2005 I saw Dr. Luehrs monthly for five years. I truly feel like I lost more than a doctor. I lost a wonderful friend. Dr. Luehrs was so kind and friendly to my daughter that she actually looked forward to coming along with me to my appointments. He always made me feel comfortable discussing any of my medical concerns never acting judgemental or superior. Dr. Luehrs helped me with a chronic illness and even diagnosed an illness in my husband that if left untreated would have caused major heart damage. The world lost a wonderful man as well as a wonderful doctor the day Dr. Luehrs passed away. My greatest sympathy goes out to all of his family. Know that he was well loved.
