PHONE: (972) Carol Ann Manke Kennedy February 8, March 12, 2008 Carol Ann Manke Kennedy, age 63, of Van Alstyne, Texas, passed away March 12, 2008, in Dallas, Texas. Carol was born February 8, 1945, in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Eldon and Clara (Lee) Manke. She married Brent Kennedy on October 29, 1966 in Honolulu, Hawaii. Carol was an accountant at EDS and of the Episcopal faith. She was Queen Red Beauty in the Red Hat Society Underage Beauties, Van Alstyne Chapter. Carol loved cooking, gardening, and her dogs, Kohl, Liebe, Precious, and Dolly. She is survived by her husband, Brent Kennedy of Van Alstyne; daughter, Shawn Urias and husband, Michael and grandson, Eric Urias of Allen, Texas; parents, Eldon and Clara Manke of Waipahu, Hawaii; sister, Shirley Duarte and husband, Raymond of Kaneohe, Hawaii; brothers, Joseph Manke and wife, Leilani of Aiea, Hawaii and Jack Manke of Waipahu, Hawaii; aunt and uncle, Paul and Eleanor Lee of Honolulu, Hawaii; mother-in-law, Virginia Kennedy of Van Alstyne; sister-inlaw, Cynthia Pratt and her husband, Paul of Hot Springs, Arkansas; brother-in-law, John Kennedy and wife, Kathy of Ontario, OR. She was preceded in death by her uncle, John Lee, in A memorial service will be held at 4:00 PM, Friday, March 21, 2008, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a night of remembrance on Thursday evening beginning at 6:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family request for donations in honor of Carol, be made to the Gilda Radner Familial Ovarian Cancer Registry (GRFOC), Roswell Park Cancer Institute, Elm and Carlton Streets, Buffalo, New York or visit the website Memorials I met Carol about 4 years ago when I was looking for a Red Hat chapter to join. We met for lunch and from there a wonderful friendship developed. Carol was in remission from her first kemo and was so happy that her hair had grown
back. I have been three times blessed. First, having Carol as a very special friend, secondly being one of her Ladies of the Court and thirdly being Bunco buddies. Carol always had a smile for everyone. No matter what was going on in her own life, she always showed concern for those around her. In our life time we have many acquaintances but few real friends. I feel so fortunate to have known Carol and her special friendship. I will miss her terribly, but she will always be with me in my memories and in my heart. Audrey Price, Lady MacIntosh, Bunco Buddy AUDREY PRICE, MARCH 27, 2008 Brent, Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during these times. JON & SALLY LANNOM, MARCH 20, 2008 Brent & Family, I'm truly sorry for your loss. Please know that you and your family are being remembered in our daily prayers. Rick & Susie RICK ANDERSSEN, MARCH 18, 2008 Dear Brent, Shawn, and Virginia, We are thinking of you everyday and have faith that your fond memories of Carol will sustain you through this sorrow. Craig, GiGi, Devon, and Lillian CRAIG WADSWORTH, MARCH 18, 2008 There are no words that can express how much I have loved you and still do. You were like a mother to me; and I always looked up to you. You were always kind and gentle with me; like Grandma Lee, loving and always looking for the good. Not a negative thought or word; I miss you so. I miss that bright smile and that sparkle in your eyes shining brightly. I'm so proud to have been your sister. I'll always remember and cherish the two months we spent together while you were in the hospital. I watched you wither away, and you were still smiling at everyone, and scolding Shawn, me and Brent! Your memories will always be in my heart and no one can take your place. I hope one day to see you again as Jehovah promises. Rest and sleep in peace, my beloved sister. SHIRLEY ANN DUARTE, MARCH 17, 2008 Brent/Shawn - I'll always cherish the time I spent with you and your family in
Texas. Carol was a very special part of that. I'll never forget how she made me a part of your family. Who could ever forget movie time at the Kennedy's? It is for people like Carol that the phrase "World Class" was invented. She is and always will be missed. Neil NEIL FIGOT, MARCH 16, 2008 From the 1st day I met Carol at EDS, we "hit it off". She was a loving and caring friend. Always had a smile on her lovely face. She had such a positive outlook on life even during her battle with cancer. I admired her so much. Even though she is gone from us, she will never be forgotten. God Bless! Love, Rose and Bill Billotte ROSE M BILLOTTE, MARCH 16, 2008 Carol will be missed "GREATLY". She was an inspiration to each of us. She always had a smile, a good word for everyone, always doing something nice for someone, and looking for the best in people. We loved her very much as a fellow Red Hat sister. Carol never knew a stranger. She was always welcoming a new member and making them feel right at home. She was indeed a Queen in our Hearts! Her determination to tackle Life and all its ups and downs made her who she was. We all have the privilege to meet special people in our lives. I feel very fortunate to have Carol in mine. Brenda Roeder Contessa Paniers et Grenouilles BRENDA S ROEDER, MARCH 16, 2008 We met Carol about 30 years ago when she bought one of our Doberman Pups. Little Tinker Bell was the love of her life for many years, besides Shawn and Brent(smile. Carol was a wonderful first class lady, loving mother and wife. We pray for Brent and our little girl Shawn to get through this trying time and we know that Carol is resting in peace. Paul, Ilse and John Tolar PAUL, ILSE AND JOHN TOLAR, MARCH 16, 2008 We Are Fortunate To Have Known Carol. Brent, Our Thoughts And Prayers Are With You And The Family. KEVIN AND JACQUE SADOWSKI, MARCH 15, 2008 It's been said that God gave us memories so we might have roses in
December. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and will remain with you as you travel through the pain of losing and on to the joy of remembering. TIM AND JULIE CRAIG, MARCH 15, 2008 Even though we did not know Carol personally, we knew her through our daughter, Shirley Dunn. Carol and Brent were in our prayers during her illness. We know that God will sustain Brent and the rest of Carol's family during this most difficult time. Carol has found her peace! ED AND LOIS ROBERTS, MARCH 15, 2008 Carol and Brent brought a special light to us when we met them in Utah. We became fast friends and had many wonderful times together. I remember Carol serving us coffee in a silver coffee server. I had never felt so special. I will never forget her words when I asked why the silver coffee server. She told me she bought it because she loved it, and loved it so she uses it. We recieved a beautiful silver coffee service set from them on Christmas. I love it and I use it. Carol, Brent,Shaun, and Virginia will always have a special place in our hearts. AL AND NANCY KNAPPNBERGER, MARCH 15, 2008 Sending our thoughts and prayers to all of Carol's Family. We know this has been a sad and painful time for all of you. God be with you in the days, weeks and months ahead. Love, Terry & Karen TERRY & KAREN KNOX, MARCH 14, 2008 My prayers are with you. Red SUSAN GILES, MARCH 14, 2008 Sorry for your loss KYLE S ANDERSON, MARCH 14, 2008 Carol always made us feel very welcome in her home. What a wonderful cook. Brent we know that you and Shawn will miss her deeply, but we also know you will always have a smile on your face when you speak of her. RANDY AND BRENDA KNOX, MARCH 14, 2008 The memory of Carol which comes to mind first is visiting her, Brent, and Aunt Virginia in Van Alstyne, and her giving her "girls" their treats...gummy worms! Her face was always full of expression and her smile was infectious, but it was
her kind, warm, gentle spirit that I will remember the most. Dan and I pray that God's peace will sustain her loved ones during this difficult time. Carol is at peace, and we thank God for her blessings in each of our lives. NANCY JO NEELON, MARCH 14, 2008 I joined the Underage Beauties chapter of the Red Hat Society in mid Carol, our Queen Red Beauty, made what could have been for me an awkward first meeting into a rich and rewarding experience. She was so enthusiastic and truly seemed to enjoy having fun. It was infectious. For having touched my life for such a short time, Carol has left a lasting imprint. We will all miss her. PAT HADDOCK, MARCH 14, 2008 my memories of carol go back 43 years. She was the kindest and most genuine loving soul I have had the pleasure to know. It has truly been an honor to hold the title "sister-in-law" to Carol. I cannot express how much she will be missed. Carol will always hold a place in my heart. Rest in peace my beautiful Carol. I love you your sister in law Cynthia.
