Bender, M.D. May 5, June 10, 2012 Robert Michael Bender, known to most as Bob, and to others as Dr. B, passed away on June 10, 2012, at the age of 68, surrounded by his loving family at his home in Celina, Texas. Bob was born in Chicago, Illinois on May 5, His life was a tapestry of achievement, humor and love for people. Bob attended the Medical College of Wisconsin, formerly Marquette University, and did his internship and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Saint Joseph Hospital in Denver. Bob married Nancy Jean Morin in 1966 and they had Robert Michael Jr. and Bonnie Jean. He served as a Major in the Air Force while working at the military hospital in Clovis, New Mexico. After his discharge from the Air Force, Bob joined his first medical practice in Alamogordo, New Mexico. Bob married Becky Barnett and moved to Plano, Texas in 1981, where he was welcomed into the active OB/GYN practice of Dr. Reiman and Dr. Rovner. Bob served as the Chief of Staff for Medical Center of Plano and was active in his community. He served on the Building Committee which directed the construction of Custer Road United Methodist Church of Plano. Dr. B enjoyed the last few years of his career practicing Gynecology exclusively. It was in these years that his patients became special friends. Upon retiring from medicine in 2009, Bob pursued woodworking, beekeeping and time with family, friends and especially grandchildren. He served as the President of the Collin County Hobby Beekeepers Association from 2011 to Bob is survived by his wife, Becky Bender; his two children, Bonnie Jean Snody and her husband, Larry Snody; his son, Robert Michael Bender, Jr. and his wife, Lori Bender; five beloved grandchildren, Cole Snody, Morgan Snody, Trenton Snody, Kyle Bender and Katie Bender and by his children s half-sister, Sarah Lewis. He is also survived by his sister, Janet (Jann) Bonnema and his brother, Richard (Dick) Bender and his wife, Chris; sister-in-law, Rose Marie Bender; nine nieces and nephews; father-in-law, Frank Barnett and his wife, Pat and mother-in-law, Arlene Miller Johnson. Bob is preceded in death by his mother, Frances Stelmach Bender; his father, Atwood Gerald Bender; his brother, Berwyn Bender; brother-in-law, Cal Bonnema and the mother of his children, Nancy Jean Lewis.

2 A Memorial Celebration of Bob s life will be held at First United Methodist Church of Celina on Saturday, June 23, 2012, at 10:30 a.m. Donations may be made in Bob s honor to First United Methodist Church of Celina at or mailed to FUMC of Celina, PO Box 306, Celina, TX or to Doctors Without Borders at Memorials For my favorite brother-in-law, who is now with our Lord. Dr.Bender is in heaven dressed to the nines, making others laugh and still serving the Lord. Many miss him so very much. At times I would hear that Dr.B was such a warm and caring person from his patients. Made me proud! Love you, Bob. Linda Barnett LINDA K. BARNETT, AUGUST 2, 2015 It is months later and I am just hearing of the passing of my Doctor Bender. I went for my check up with Doctor Leveno on today and this is when I found out. My heart was sadden and Doctor B was and had been my doctor from age 18 years old. And now at age 57, I could not have asked for a better OB-GYN. Over the years of delivering my two sons, with Reiman and Rover's office, and performing my two surgeries, he was always top-notch in my book. Heaven has another angel in the midst with Doctor Bender.. and I am sure he is wearing some fantasy socks and well dressed. RIP Doctor B, you are surely missed. Constance Dixon CONSTANCE DIXON, DECEMBER 29, 2014 Here it is months later and I found out today that Dr. Bender has passed away. I was heartbroken. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Dr. Bender delivered my eldest daughter and she will be turning 28 in December. His dry sense of humor was a pinnacle of his personality along with his devotion to being the devout medical physician that he was. He remained my doctor for 25 years. I wish that the Lord hadn't called him home so soon, but know he was welcomed with open arms. He was a part of mine and many lives for many years and he will be dearly missed. 3 I was deeply saddened to learn that Dr. Bender had passed. I filled many prescriptions for his patients while I worked in Plano and more when I worked in Celina. It was a pleasure to be his and Becky's pharmacist in Celina. What a wonderful doctor and an even better man. My heart goes out to Becky and the rest of his family at his passing. We have lost a truly special man and doctur that I feel privileged to have known. JOHN ARBUTHNOT, RPH, JUNE 22, 2012 I was sadden by the news. Dr. Bender treated each patient unique. He had a wonderful bedside manner. I truly believe he loved his patients above wealth. When I first moved to Plano someone recommended me to Dr. Bender at the time I did not have insurance. So after the visit he walked me to the front desk and told me to pay what I could afford. For many years after I moved to Houston I went back to Dr. Bender for my annual exam. As for myself, I am deeply saddenned to hear of this loss of such an incredibly gifted physician and servant. Dr. Bender has been my "Doc" since 1983 and delivered our first born in I was the last patient, the last day of his practice.i had utmost respect for him and complete confidence in him as a doctor. He was so wiity,had such a dry sense of humor,he was logical, calming and so caring.i absolutely over the years loved that he not only treated his patients physical needs but treated mind, body and soul.he was my doctor and my friend. I have missed him since retirement and he will forever be a "stand out" in my life as one of the "Good guys"! I pray for God'd peace to be with each one of you and let your wonderful memories sustain you during your grief. CYNTHIA KIDWELL, JUNE 22, 2012 Dr. Bender was my doctor from 1983 until he retired. He delivered my two children. Each year when I had my yearly physical, it was like seeing a member of my family. He was thorough, competent and professional as well as kind and caring. He was truly an asset to the profession. He will be missed.

4 DEBORAH MOSS, JUNE 20, 2012 My heart is breaking for those left behind but I rejoice in the fact that Dr. B is with his Lord. Dr. B came into my life when I was pregnant with my first child in 1981 and I loved him immediately. He went on to deliver my 2nd child and at one time he was taking care of 4 generations of our family. He has helped me through some tough times with his wit and encouraging words. I was so sad when he retired but now I am so thankful that he had that time to spend with Becky and the family. I pray that the Lord will wrap His arms around the friends and family of Dr. B and that we will all feel a peace and comfort that our Lord has a new angel.
