2 FALL DANCE 2016 Student Recreation Facility 737 S. Halsted St. ballet Learn the techniques of ballet while improving your core, posture and grace of movement. This class focuses on strength, alignment, and performance. The class will start with 20 minutes at the barre, then to the center of the room for floor work. Jazz or ballet shoes are recommended. This course will cover the basics of the Argentine Tango. bollyx BollyX is a Bollywood-inspired dance-fitness program that combines dynamic choreography with the hottest music from around the world. Its 45-minute cardio workout cycles between higher and lower-intensity dance sequences to get you moving, sweating, and motivated all at the same time. 5 TENNIS AQUATICS Student Recreation Facility (Outdoor Courts) 737 S. Halsted St. UIC Campus Recreation offers tennis lessons at our Outdoor Recreation Courts. Tennis lessons meet on Saturdays to include 12 hours of instruction. You will need to provide your own racket for lessons and the play group. beginning/intermediate tennis instruction This class is designed for individuals who are new to tennis but want to learn basic skills and learn the rules of the game. You will be partnered with partners of equal ability for match play. aqua pilates This class is designed to help you develop core strength and flexibility with the low impact benefits of water. The class utilizes shallow rebound work, stretches, and strength work to create a challenging workout program based in the Pilates Method. Excellent for participants with joint and back issues, and those who want to improve posture and core strength. In this workshop, you will learn the practical side of instructing group fitness classes. Halsted St. MARTIAL ARTS gentle vinyasa flow Gentle or slow flow vinyasa yoga is a less strenuous yoga practice consisting of basic poses in a flowing series. Gentle vinyasa flow is ideal for someone looking for a tranquil practice, new to yoga or looking to unwind. You ll combine free weights with yoga flow and cardio to intensify each yoga pose while mixing in strength-training moves. Bring water, a yoga mat and a towel. Weights will be provided. It is known for quick and complex movements using power, speed, and flexibility. This class will focus on posture, flow, and basic movement principles for a great lower body workout. 7 CLIMBING WALL intro to climbing class Introduction to rock climbing classes are offered on a frequent basis. Four week classes run once a week for an hour and a half. Wolcott Ave. YOGA art of the belly dance World renowned performer Jasmin Jahal introduces you to Pure Raks, a fun, yet disciplined program that trains you step by step in the feminine and elegant movements of classical belly dance. Pure Raks is for those women who want to be fit, sexy and classy. You can start at any age, with no prior dance experience. Learn exciting movements for your hips, torso and arms. Build fabulous abs and tone your core. Class attire: flexible workout clothing, bare feet, socks or ballet slippers, scarf to tie around your hips. 9 MARTIAL ARTS SMALL GROUP TRAINING women s self defense During the women s self defense class, learn state of the art techniques for escaping and evading the attacks most frequently perpetrated against women. This course is for women ONLY. No prior experience needed. CAI Ju-Jutsu is based upon Miyama Ryu Ju-Jutsu and ParaCombatives Ju-Jutsu. No prior experience necessary. Using the Synrgy 360 equipment, circuit training stations will be set up using TRX, kettlebells, medicine balls, boxing, battle ropes, body weight training and more. 10 FALL 2016 REGISTRATION INFORMATION step 1 Visit - Click on the REGISTRATIONS icon on the right hand side of the screen. step 2: creating an account Students & Members Select the FORGOT PASSWORD/ CREATE LOGINS? CLICK HERE Link Enter your address. Please make sure to use the address that is on file with Membership Services. You may be asked for your member number (UIN), which can be located on your I-card. An will be sent to you with a user name and password; this is what you will use to log-in. After logging in with the initial assigned user name and password, you will be prompted to choose a new user name or password. This is what you will use to log-in going for-ward. If you need assistance or have any questions, please contact Natalie Banach, Assistant Director of Member Services, at ndachn1@uic.edu or (312) Non-Members Click on the BECOME A GUEST button on the right hand side of the screen. Fill out your name, , and zip code and hit next. Fill out the personal information form. Be sure to include your address. You will be prompted to create a user name and password. step 3: selecting classes Log in Click on the icon that looks like a HOME in the top left corner of the screen Click on PROGRAM REGISTRATIONS picture Select the facility that your class will be taking place at in the dropdown box in the upper left hand side To view classes, click on the picture category or click SELECT Click on a course and VIEW PROGRAMS ; a description, class times and cost will be displayed Select ADD TO CART Read the waiver and check the accept box, then hit continue Select continue to cart Payment summary screen will appear Enter payment information Confirm the for the receipt to be sent and a second if entered Select submit payment After payment is processed a receipt will appear on your screen After receiving confirmation of your account, you will be able to log-in with your new user name. 10 Register online by September 16, 2016!

11 PROGRAM POLICIES To ensure that your class will run, register by September 16, Classes not meeting the minimum requirement of participants will be cancelled. You will be notified by if the class is cancelled. Please be sure to update your address in your online registration account. Refunds will ONLY be issued for classes cancelled due to low participation or for a doctor documented illness or injury. i-card Policy All members participating in UIC Campus Recreation programs are required to show a valid i-card upon entrance to our facilities. Any person who fails to show their i-card will be required to pay the daily guest admission to the facility. Non-members are required to check in at the Membership Service Desk. Please make sure to have a government issued PHOTO ID. Late registrations will be accepted into a class that is running; however, pro-rates for missed classes will not be honored. People under the age of 18 cannot participate in ANY UIC Campus Recreation group fitness session classes or instructional programs. No one under the age of 18 is permitted to be present during class instruction. Try It Free classes are on a first come first serve basis. You do not need to sign up in advance for Try It Free classes. Please visit our website at rec.uic.edu to review a complete copy of our policies.
