4 The changing face of fitness Over the past 12 months, we have re-invested over 1 million back into our centres, to improve the facilities for our customers, with the aim of improving your experience and enjoyment. Refurbishment works were completed in the gyms at both Splashpoint and Worthing Leisure Centres, including new flooring and equipment throughout. Works on replacing the new sports hall and studio floors were also completed at the Shaftesbury Avenue site, giving better playing surfaces for netball, basketball, badminton and handball, funded through collaborations between Badminton U.K, South Downs Leisure and Worthing Borough Council. We are constantly looking to evolve our roster of classes to fit the needs of our customers, introducing new and additional classes to ensure our customers are happy but challenged. And our Les Mills classes still prove as popular as ever as our Fitness Fiestas are testament to, highlighting new releases of a number of classes. Our next one will take place at the end of September. We also offer a host of junior activities for our younger audience, including Amazon Adventure, boxing courses, gymnastics, swimming, tennis and lots more, as well as special walk up rates at the Football Centre, where they can get 50% off pitch fees during off-peak times, helping to develop skills at a young age and keeping under 16 s engaged. 4

5 Dementia Friends South Downs Leisure staff across all sites are continuing to undertake Dementia Friends awareness training in conjunction with The Alzheimer s Society and Public Health England, and are looking to become a fully dementia friendly organisation later this year. The Coffee House The Coffee House at both Splashpoint and Worthing Leisure Centres hold the Very Good 5-star Food Hygiene Rating from the Food Standards Agency and have both gained awards through Eat Out Eat Well a council run scheme across Sussex for caterers who make it easier for their customers to make healthy choices when eating out. This was helped through our working in conjunction with Change4Life and the menu changes we made to help our customers lead a healthier lifestyle. Walking Sports/Activities The walking sports and community gardening activities that we host are going from strength to strength, with Walking Football, Walking Netball and Community Gardening giving a social and active aspect back to the lives of the over 50 s or those with impaired movement. Participation is steadily growing in all these activities, which we hope to improve even further with help from the National Lottery. GreenDreams Field Place Manor House, alongside a number of local community projects, producers and charities are playing host once again to the GreenDreams festival on 1st October 2017, following the successful inaugural festival in This is a local community greenspaces and food festival which will showcase the very best talent from local producers and providers; with workshops for all the family and stalls selling local produce, foods, beers and more. Outdoor Theatres Field Place is playing host to two Open air theatre events this summer, as Chapterhouse Theatre Company presents their adaptations of 2 classics under the stars in the beautiful grounds. Firstly Charles Dickens unforgettable story fo love family and Friendship, with Great Expectations in on Wednesday 28th June and then a family production of Wind in the Willows on Wednesday 30th August. We are looking to build on partnerships formed throughout the last year, to help us work collaboratively with the likes of the South Downs National Park and Sussex Wildlife Trust has been a very busy year so far at South Downs Leisure and we only expect bigger and better things to happen over the coming months. We thank you for your patience whilst all our works were undertaken over the last 12 months, but hope you ll agree that they are a remarkable improvement to our facilities that you can be proud to use. 6 Membership Prices FIT4 membership is an all-inclusive fitness package, spread across FIVE leisure sites; consisting of four well-equipped gyms, swimming pools/spa facilities, over 370 fitness classes along with a variety of racquet sports and other activities.** Our Prices: Pay for a whole year up front, pay monthly or simply pay each time you visit the choice is yours. One Month Free: On annual up front membership. Ask one of our membership advisors for details. Individual membership Individual adult memberships paid either up front for the year or by monthly Direct Debit are Price for Life. Joining fee 47.50* Pay monthly by direct debit 46.00* Corporate membership Our corporate membership is suitable for various organisations including sports teams or social clubs. The minimum requirement is 10 people or more in order to qualify. Joining fee 47.50* Pay monthly by direct debit 38.00* Concessionary membership It is available to: Joint members (2 family members or partners who live in the same household) Students (aged 16 or over and in full-time education) People aged 60 or over People on employment support allowance. Individual joining fee 47.50* Joint member joining fee * Pay monthly by direct debit 38.00* Junior membership A fitness programme designed for youngsters from 0 to 17 years. It provides an extensive and varied range of activities and classes across the five leisure sites. Joining fee 10* Pay monthly by direct debit 28.00* Family membership This fun, family option means adults and children can enjoy our facilities together or individually whether it s swimming, booking courts or courses. Young people aged 13+ can join some of our fantastic fitness classes as well! 9 Centre Membership Non-FIT4 Centre Membership is a flexible option for those more infrequent users of our facilities or for those that are affiliated with one particular sports related activity. For example, if you are only interested in playing badminton or swimming and can only attend once a week, Centre Membership would be your cheapest option. When becoming a Centre Member, you pay a one-off fee each year and then receive a reduced member s rate on activities. Centre Membership also means that you get early booking priority with the ability to book up to 7 days in advance. Annual Centre Membership Prices: Adult Member Juniors/Over 60 s Family (2 adults and 2 juniors) Please speak to us in person to ensure you get exactly the right package for you. Call for details. Sign up for your members card and you can participate in activities at all our centres with your own unique membership number, saving you time when making bookings, plus we can alert you to promotions for sports or activities that you enjoy most. Ask at reception for more details. Member number: South Downs Non-Members Where space is available, non-members are welcome to use our facilities on a pay-per-session basis. For customers using our gyms, the cost is just 9 per session ( 6.90 per session at Davison Leisure Centre and Worthing College). For our fitness classes, please go to pages for class descriptions and non-member prices. For all other activities, please speak to us in person. Please note: non-members can only book 3 days in advance so availability may be limited and payment will need to be taken with your booking. 9

10 CLASS TIMETABLES AND INFORMATION Whatever your age and ability our highly trained and qualified staff will provide you with a warm welcome and are on hand to help you choose the activities that best suit your needs. Tips for attending classes Booking Conditions All course details are correct at time of print and subject to change at short notice. Go online for latest information. South Downs Leisure reserve the right to alter the class timetables or substitute activities without prior notice if circumstances dictate. If you are unable to attend a class, please cancel it online or notify us within one hour of the booked class start time. This ensures everyone has a chance to attend classes. FIT4 Members Failure to cancel may result in a booking charge being applied. Centre Members and non-members In the event of a cancellation of a booking a refund will not be given. 28 Child Admissions Policy All children under the age of 8 must be accompanied by an adult (16 years or over) in the water in all public swimming sessions 0-3 Years Old Children aged 3 years and under must be accompanied on a 1 adult : 1 child basis. This is regardless of whether the child is wearing a buoyancy aid. Mixed Ages Where an adult has 1 child aged 3 or under and another aged 4, 5, 6 or 7 then the younger child must wear an appropriate buoyancy aid. 4-7 Years Old Children aged 4, 5, 6 or 7 years must be accompanied on a 1 adult : 2 children basis as a minimum. This is regardless of whether either child is wearing a buoyancy aid. 8 Years & Over Children aged 8 years and over do not need to be accompanied. It is therefore down to parents to be confident that their child s swimming ability is of a suitable standard to not need adult supervision. This policy has been written following Risk Assessments being carried out taking into account the design, layout and type of pool; the swimming ability and age of children and whether approved buoyancy aids are being worn by non-swimmers. We have also used guidance from Chartered Institute For The Management of Sport And Physical Activity (CIMSPA) and the Health & Safety Executive (HSE). 28
