The challenges of the past year were incredibly daunting and each of those challenges were met head on. His vision, determination, and leadership were instrumental in the success we are now beginning to see. With his invaluable guidance and support, I m looking forward to continuing that success in the coming year. Going forward our membership numbers need to grow dramatically if we want our lodge to enjoy the prosperity it deserves. Many of you have asked how you can help our lodge and increasing enrollment is one huge step in the right direction. Our Moose Legion has seen its enrollment decline as well. The Legion is an integral part of our lodge so we need to be more proactive in its growth. Special thanks to Steve Sherlock for stepping up as Legion Chairman. I have complete faith in him to steer us back on course. I ve enjoyed speaking with many of you over the last few weeks and I appreciate your concerns. Please feel free to speak to me or a board member whenever you have an issue or a question and I promise it will be addressed. The planning and preparation for the events we run can go back weeks or months so we really appreciate you joining us for whatever activity that may be going on. I m especially looking for new event ideas to do on weekends so please let me know what you think will work. I don t believe we need to have four different kinds of Bingo to fill our calendar each month and I don t believe our membership does either. I d like to note that we had both a pool team and a dart team enter the finals this season. This level of play required nearly three months of playing time to achieve. We wish them well and thank them for their dedication in representing our lodge. I m proud to welcome aboard Michael Juice Joyce as our new bar manager. Mike s actually a long time member of our lodge and when he heard we were looking to fill this position he jumped right in to offer his help. His business and management experience are extensive. I think once he gets going you will be very impressed with the progress our social quarters makes. Please take a moment to introduce yourself if you haven t already. He s a great guy and is willing to listen to any concerns you may have. Our Family Outing is coming up next month. Just to dispel the doomsday rumors, we will not be charging members a fee to participate. We will as always however be charging a nominal fee for non-members. Also, beer and wine prices will stay at last year s level. I hope you will all be here for what promises be our best outing yet. The Board of Officers and I appreciate each of our members input, volunteerism, and patronage. Your support is vital to our success as a lodge and is equally vital to our contributions in the community. Please be willing to give a helping hand when you can. Our membership is our future, are you with us? Tom OConnor Governor, Braintree 413 For All You Do!

Volunteerism is the key to success for our Chapter and Lodge so whether it be cooking, time, baking or running an event, Please help in any way you can. Everyone has some kind of a talent or skill, so let us all work together to make our Chapter and Lodge successful. (This is our second home) The Co-Worker of the Month is Ann Gleason. 4 Page 4 A Message from the Administrator June 2014 Hello Brothers and Co-Workers, The warm weather has finally arrived in New England and many folks are returning to the Braintree Lodge to participate in the weekly activities, dinners and special events we have been hosting at the Lodge. Whether it is horse racing on Derby Day, the Preakness or even our own Moose Races, it s great to see all the new and returning faces at the Lodge! There are many changes underway that will take effect following the International Convention that will be held in Las Vegas in June, from June 19 th to the 24 th. Once all the changes are solidified, we will post a re-cap in the Social Quarters for your review. There are NEW membership rewards for those members sponsoring new members into our fraternity. Bring down your friends, co-workers and neighbors and show them our Lodge and tell them about the membership rewards that are available to the Moose member and their families. Mention all of the support that we provide to our community and the families in need. We grow by you sponsoring new members to the fraternity and becoming a Preferred Member of your Lodge. Step up and sponsor a new member today! The Braintree Lodge and Chapter have been participating in our community by attending and marching in the local Parades held at the holidays. On Memorial Day, members and co-workers attended the Weymouth Memorial Day Parade. It was a fun time and it s great to show off Tommy Moose and participate in these fun family events. Following the Parade, there was a Memorial Service held at the Front Street Cemetery in Weymouth at the Loyal Order of Moose headstone. Members and Coworkers paid homage and respect to the Moose Members that have left the Defending Circle over the past year. Following our Memorial tribute all members returned to the Lodge and we had a nice lunch of burgers and hot dogs to really kick of the beginning of summer! If you have any ideas of new activities to bring to our membership, please let any officer know and we will discuss it at our Joint Meeting and we will try our best to get it on the schedule. New activities bring in new members to our events and aside from the Community Service that we do, having fun with our friends in our Lodge is the best way to relax and meet new people in a family friendly atmosphere. Come On DOWN!!! Thank you for your support over the past Moose year and your participation in our Braintree events is a great way of showing your support. We look forward to a successful year at the Lodge. We hope to see you more often at the Lodge!! Fraternally, Rick Robash Administrator MOOSE OF THE MONTH Paul McCarthy Congratulations!

6 Page 6 June 2014 MOOSE LEGION REPORT Braintree Moose Legion Committee June, 2014 Hello My Fellow Moose Legionnaires, Our current fund raiser is the Duck Races. They're scheduled for Sunday, June15 at 11:30 AM. This is a rain or shine event. Come on down to the lodge for a wonderful Fathers Day Brunch then head down to the Herring Run by Jackson Square in Weymouth for an afternoon of fun. We need volunteers to help us with the races. Remember, a burden heavy to one is made light by many. Ducks will be $5.00 each and may be purchased in advance. We'll also be selling Tommy Moose stuffed animals at $15.00 each to build our reserve towards Hospital Visits and Law Enforcement presentations. We will also have a 2013 Red Sox World Series Commemorative Plate from the Bradford Exchange to raffle soon. We will also be raffling off a $ Best Buy Gift Card. Tickets will be only $5.00 each and we will draw the raffle when 150 tickets are sold. Some lucky winner will get to spend $ at Best Buy and the Moose Legion will realize a $ gain for it s efforts. Our coffers are getting low and these raffles should help replenish it. Some of our most recent projects included getting the much needed stairs to the attic and having the lodge ceiling tiles painted. We would like to thank all of those who have donated their time and hard work on the stairs and ceiling projects. However, we have more work to do though and would like to paint the interior of the lodge, put safer flooring and organize the attic and other beautification projects to make our lodge an even more enjoyable place to spend your valuable time. Because these projects are being done through the lodge s Moose Legion, it is also not taking away from the Lodge s operating expenses. We would like to do a monthly Moose Legion Fund Night, most likely on a Thursday Night. If you have any thought or suggestions on this, please feel free to bring them up at our next legion meeting. We are trying to encourage more participation in our legion meetings and events and need your ideas and input. Our Moose Legion was once very strong and would like to get it back that way. As you can see, we do a lot of good with the funds we raise so why not come down and participate. We are looking to make these meetings and events more fun while keeping a purposeful mission in mind. If you know of someone who would like to join the Moose Legion, now is a good time to sign them up. It is only $10.00 to sign up which includes both the application and dues for the year but only until June 30th, Our next meeting is Sunday, June 1st at 11:00 AM. July s meeting will be moved to July 13th at 11:00 AM.
