Included will be discussion of common clinical scenarios encountered during the mul focal contact lens fi ng process with recommended procedures and treatment strategies to most efficiently and effec vely achieve success. With age and hormonal changes, female pa ents are at greater risk for ocular surface disease. This course will review hormonal influence on ocular surface disease. 5 2018 Bronstein Seminar Faculty Dr. Melissa Barne is a Principal Optometrist at the UC Davis Eye Center in Sacramento. She is interna onally recognized key opinion leader, specializing in anterior segment disease and specialty contact lenses. Dr. Barne lectures and publishes extensively on topics including dry eye, anterior segment disease, contact lenses and crea ng a healthy balance between work and home life for women in optometry. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry, a Diplomate of the American Board of Cer fica on in Medical Optometry (ABCMO), a Fellow of the Bri sh Contact Lens Associa on (BCLA) and serves on the Board of American Optometric Associa on (AOA) Cornea and Contact Lens Council, Women of Vision (WOV), Gas Permeable Lens Ins tute (GPLI), Ocular Surface Society of Optometry (OSSO) is Immediate Past President of The Scleral Lens Educa on Society (SLS). Dr. Barne is a spokesperson for the California Optometric Associa on and a guest lecturer for the STAPLE program. She was awarded The Theia Award for Excellence for Mentoring by Women in Optometry (WO) in In her spare me she enjoys cooking, yoga, hiking and spending me with her family, Todd Erickson, also an optometrist, and two sons, Alex and Drew. Mr. Patrick J. Caroline serves as Associate Professor at Pacific University College of Optometry in Forest Grove Oregon. He is a Fellow member and Diplomat of the Cornea and Contact Lens Sec on of the American Academy of Optometry. Patrick is a Council member of the Interna onal Society for Contact Lens Research as well as a member of the Interna onal Associa on of Contact Lens Educators and the American Associa on of Optometric Educators. For the past twenty years Patrick has served as a contribu ng editor for the Contact Lens Spectrum and is on the editorial board for Contact Lens and Anterior Eye and Eye and Contact Lens Journals. He has published over 300 papers on a wide range of contact lens topics and has lectured extensively throughout the world. Thomas G. Quinn, O.D., M.S., F.A.A.O. is in group prac ce in Athens, Ohio. He has served as chair of the American Optometric Associa on s Contact Lens and Cornea Sec on Council; he is a diplomate of the Cornea, Contact Lens and Refrac ve Technologies Sec on of the American Academy of Optometry; an advisor to the Gas Permeable Lens Ins tute (GPLI); chair of the EastWest Eye Conference; and a coadministrator for Vision Source with his wife, Dr. Susan Quinn. In addi on to private prac ce, Dr. Quinn serves as Associate Professor of Clinical Prac ce for The Ohio State University College of Optometry and Clinical Assistant Professor for The Ohio University College of Medicine. Roy Wesley, OD, PhD, is a Chicago based optometrist who graduated from the New England College of Optometry. He received his PhD from City University of New York in Cell and Molecular Biology and worked for Pfizer Labs in New Jersey, New York and Connec cut. Dr. Wesley prac ced low vision clinical research using orthokeratology and other techniques at the Eye Clinic of the Na onal Eye Research Founda on (NERF). Dr. Wesley is a former president of NERF and is currently an officer of the Fund of the Dr. Newton K. Wesley Founda on which sponsors innova ve research projects in contact lenses and orthokeratology. Dr. Wesley is currently wri ng a biography of his father, Dr. Newton K. Wesley, the co-founder of Wesley-Jessen, Inc. (The Plas c Contact Lens Company) tled Invisible Vision and is also working on a personal memoir celebrates the 100th anniversary of the birth of Dr. Newton K.
