1 June 2017 Cancer Resource Centers serve patients, families Did you know there are TWO Samaritan Cancer Resource Centers connecting patients and families with the services they need? The Samaritan Cancer Resource Center - Albany, located at 400 NW Hickory Street, offers a cancer information library; monthly art therapy; a salon with complimentary table massages, wigs and wig fittings, hats, and scarves; SurvivorFit fitness memberships; and seasonal classes including That s My Farmer. Four support groups meet regularly in Albany: Man to Man, Caregivers, Grief, and Living with Cancer. Call to learn more. The Samaritan Cancer Resource Center - Corvallis, located within the cancer center, offers numerous resources as well, giving patients and families more resources than ever before. About the resource center staff Alex Edmonds, Department Assistant, started at the Samaritan Cancer Resource Center - Corvallis in February She is originally from North Bend, Wash. and moved to Corvallis last year. Alex completed a paralegal program and worked in various fields of law for three years before joining Samartian. Erin Dunn, Department Assistant, has been at the Samaritan Cancer Resource Center - Albany since April She grew up in a small farming community in Central Oregon. Erin knew from a young age that helping others was an important part of what she wanted to do. She pursued her passions in the beauty industry and management in health and wellness. Liz Newman, Program Coordinator, started at the Samaritan Cancer Resource Center - Corvallis in June 2016 after graduating from OSU with a bachelor s degree in public health. Before starting college, Liz traveled and volunteered in several countries throughout Africa. Stephanie Hagerty, Director, was born at Good Samaritan Hospital when it was a red brick building on Harrison Street in Corvallis, and she was raised on her family s farm in Tangent. An OSU graduate in business with a minor in agriculture, Stephanie has worked at Samaritan since National Cancer Survivors Day From the newly diagnosed to decades-long survivors, to family members and medical professionals, join us Sunday, June 4, for FREE food, giveaways, fun and hopefully some sun! Anyone touched by cancer survivors, supporters, family and friendly dogs all are welcome. Takes place at the Samaritan Pastega Regional Cancer Center. An optional 5K walk/run takes place at 9 a.m., with Survivors Day festivities starting at 11 a.m. and ending at 1:30 p.m. Guest speakers are at noon.
