From the pizza Night at the Community Shed to the Eastern Adelaide Domestic Violence Quiz night to the Fundraiser to assist to build a dam in Pakistan and if that is not enough then book a night at the movies to assist with fundraising for the end Polio campaign. Then we should all think about answering Emikos call for Motel bookings for the Broken Hill Conference. The Pizza night at the Community Shed was once again timed to enjoy the balmy spring weather and good fellowship was enjoyed by all present. Numbers were good and some members lined up Christmas Gifts for their partners. Mine just loves to shop so she was in there purchasing a timber table runner food server thing. She even had a photo on her phone of how it would look at Christmas. We then had the Quiz night for Eastern Adelaide Domestic Violence. We had two tables of quiz participants and whilst we were not winners we must have been close in 4 th position. The questions were fair the answers not quiet so fair and a good sum of between $6500 and $7000 was raised for a good cause. Then we headed to Stepney to raise money to build a dam in Pakistan. Cultural enlightenment plus good fellowship and international service all in the one night. Afzal Is a leader in his community and club members David R, Tim, Richard, Terry Bob and president Paul and partners were all there to support a fellow Rotarian do their bit for international service. This week members can have Wednesday off but rest up for the first moonlight market. We will be missing Adel to tell us where we should be but have a good team to provide direction and can be sure we will have a post market review to see what we can do better for the December, February and March markets. 6 USA VISIT TRIP FROM MORIALTA WILL BE October 2019 Friendship Agreement between RC of Usa of Japan and RC of Morialta has been continuing since The next reciprocal visit is from Morialta to Usa in October next year. The group travels from east to south-west using JR trains. 8 How are you supporting the End Polio Campaign this year? The District has organised some terrific opportunities for you and your Club to support Rotary s signature project this year and we are looking for your support in either attending one of the three movie events across the District or by promoting this to your own network of friends, family and work colleagues OR even better both of those options. The time to book is NOW! As we all know the polio programme has been an outstanding success, but, we cannot claim the world to be polio free until there have been no new cases of the wild polio virus for three years. The end game will be expensive as we keep inoculations up and monitoring the progress. We have to keep providing support. Your support in attending the film night will contribute to this goal. 10 Twilight Cruise on the 'One & All' Tall Ship Corporate Sponsor Supported by Rotary Clubs in District 9520 & 9500 Following the success last year of our Twilight Summer Cruises, the Youth Sailing 'One & All' Committee is organising another cruise for Rotarians, their family and friends on Saturday, December 1st As on previous cruises, you will be offered a variety of delicious food, soft drinks, tea and coffee while sailing majestically down the Port River and into the Gulf. On board and helping to run the ship will be some of the students who were sponsored by local Rotary Clubs to take part in the October 5-day training voyage. They will happily discuss their sailing experiences and demonstrate some of their newly acquired rigging and ship handling skills! Rotarians and their guests will need to gather at the McLaren Wharf, Port Adelaide (see map attached) at 5:15 pm for boarding. Departure and return is dependent on the opening times of the bridge, so don't be late or you may miss the boat!! Page 10
