1 NARCOTICS CONTROL BUREAU NEW DELHI DRUG SITUATION REPORT/SIGNIFICANT EVENTS REPORT FOR INDIA FOR THE ONTH OF JANUARY 2017 ********** This report is based on the information received from various State and Central drug law enforcement agencies till the end of January Significant seizures effected earlier but reported during January 2017 are also incorporated in this report. ***********

2 SEIZURES EFFECTED IN THE ONTH OF JANUARY, 2017 On , Officers of NCB, Amritsar Sub Zone seized 5077 tablets containing Opium and kg of Balsara paste containing opium along with currency Rs.80,600/. 01 person was arrested. On , Officers of NCB, Zonal Unit in coordination with SSB seized 280 grams of along with currency Rs.80,330/. 01 person was arrested. On , Officers of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, Patna intercepted a vehicle at Patna and seized 1814 kg of Ganja. 03 persons were arrested. From to a total of 266 Acres of land under illicit Cannabis cultivation was destroyed in the Kandhamal district of Orissa by the Bhubaneswar SubZone of NCB in collaboration with the State Excise & State Police. On , Officers of NCB, Chandigarh disposed off kg of, kg of Poppy Husk and kg of Clonazepam at the incinerator at /S Rainbow Environments Pvt Ltd at Village Balyali (Punjab) and the seized kg of Opium has been approved for depositing with Government Opium and Alkaloid Works, Neemuch, adhya Pradesh. On , Officers of NCB, Guwahati Zonal Unit seized 86 grams of at Sonapur, Guwahati. 01 person was arrested. On , Officers of NCB, Guwahati Zonal Unit seized 120 grams of and 660 grams of Opium at Khanapara, Guwahati. 03 persons were arrested. On , Officers of NCB Delhi Zonal Unit seized 785 grams of and arrested 01 Afghanistan national. The said person was intercepted from IGI, Airport, New Delhi on as a swallower case. He remain admitted to Safadarjang Hospital w.e.f to during which he expelled 90 Capsules. On Officers of NCB umbai seized 919 grams of crystalline substance purported to be ephedrone. 02 persons were arrested. On Officers of NCB, Goa Sub Zone searched a hotel room in adgam Goa, and seized kg of Hashish. 02 persons were arrested. On , Officers of NCB Delhi Zonal Unit, seized 975 grams of Cocaine and arrested 01 Brazil national lady. The said lady was intercepted from IGI, Airport, New Delhi on as a swallower case. She remained admitted to Safadarjang Hospital w.e.f to during which she expelled 65 capsules. On , Officers of NCB, Bangalore Zonal Unit, seized kg of Ganja at Nandangudi Bus Stand, Bangalore. 02 persons were arrested. From & , Officers of NCB, Bhubaneswar Sub Zone destroyed a total of 213 Acres of land under illicit Cannabis cultivation in the Kandhamal and Gajapati district of Orissa in collaboration with the State Excise & State Police. On , Officers of NCB, Guwahati Zonal Unit seized 5078 bottles of PhenyrexT Cough Syrup from Bye lane No. 2, Rupkonwar Path, Chachal, Guwahati. 01 person was arrested. On , Officers of NCB Amritsar Sub Zone, seized 1,29,640 tablets of Opium at Rambagh Gate arket, Amritsar. 01 person was arrested. On , Officers of Excise & Narcotics, izoram seized 222 tablets of ethamphetamine. 01 yanmar national was arrested. The suspected source of the seized drug was yanmar. On , Officers of NCB, Patna Zonal Unit seized kg of Ganja from a truck in Patna district of Bihar. 02 persons were arrested.

On , Officers of NCB Amritsar Sub Zone in coordination with BSF Ferozpur, Punjab seized kg of and 690 grams of Opium along with 01 Chinese Pistol, 13 live Rds & two agazines. The suspected source of the seized drug was South West Asia. On , Officers of NCB, Delhi Zonal Unit intercepted a parcel at /s DHL Express Pvt., 73/3, Rama Road Ltd, Kirti Nagar, New Delhi and seized 980 grams of Hashish. The suspected destination of the seized drug was Brazil. On , Officers of Goa Police, Anti Narcotic Cell, seized 227 grams Hashish & 0.41 grams of LSD at Bardez, Goa. 01 Nigerian national was arrested. On , Officers of Central Bureau of Narcotics, Gwalior seized bottles of Phensedyl Cough Syrup. 01 person was arrested. On , Officers of NCB, Chennai Zonal Unit seized kg (loose tablets) of Alprazolam at allapuram District of Kerala. 01 person was arrested. On , Officers of NCB, Delhi Zonal Unit seized kg of Cocaine and 435 grams of ethaqualone at Paharganj, New Delhi. 03 Vietnamese nationals were arrested. The suspected source of the seized drug was Togo. On , Officers of NCB, Delhi Zonal Unit, seized 14 kg of Hashish near Jahangir Puri etro Station, New Delhi. 03 persons were arrested. On , Officers of NCB, Zonal Unit, seized kg of Opium at alda, West Bengal. 01 person was arrested. The suspected destination of the seized drug was USA. On , Officers of NCB, Amritsar Sub Zone seized kg of Opium based tablets near Shivala Fatak, Shrifpura, Amritsar, Punjab. On , Officers of NCB, Zonal Unit seized 2,000 bottles of Phensedyl Cough Syrup containing Codeine Phosphate at Howrah Railway Station. The drug was detected by RPF, Howrah. On , Officers of NCB, Patna Zonal Unit seized kg of Hashish at Pantoka, East Champaran, Bihar. 01 person was arrested. The suspected source of the seized drug was Nepal. On , Officers of izoram Police, Special Narcotic, CID (Crime), seized 445 grams of at Aizawl. 01 person was arrested. The suspected source of the seized drug was yanmar. During the month of January, 2017, officers of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) seized kg of Hashish, 815 gram of, kg of Ganja, kg of Poppy Posta and kg of Poppy Straw in 28 cases and arrested 31 persons including 06 nationals. The suspected source of the seized drugs in most of these cases was Nepal. SEIZURES EFFECTED EARLIER BUT REPORTED IN JANUARY, 2017 On , Officer of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, Rajasthan (Udaipur) seized T (23320 Kg) of ethaqualone (Loose Tablets). The drugs were concealed in hidden compartment at the rear end of godown. The tablets were manufactured in a factory at Gudli Industrial Area Udaipur. Total Five Persons were Arrested. **********
