4 Rotary Ho! - Page 4 LAST WEEK S SPEAKERS Guest Speaker Chairman Glenn introduced his son Stuart as the Guest Speaker. Stuart gave a very detailed and passionate presentation on one of his hobbies shooting. Stuart showed 4 of the guns he uses which have different applications, depending on what and where he is using them and all have been highly modified by himself. Stuart only shoots animals for the better good, i.e. culling Kangaroos that may be destroying a farmer s crop, destroying foxes preying on sheep and lambs or to shoot for food. He spends many hours preparing for competition shooting by using various compositions of powder and shells and shoots around 300 rounds to test the accuracy and efficiency of the ammunition. Different ammunition is used depending on the type of shoot he is involved in. He enjoys all activities and declared that Clay shooting is a very sociable sport, however he enjoys all the facets of the sport. Stuart is fanatical about the safety when using the guns and emphasised the importance of cleaning the guns thoroughly after use.. 6 Rotary Ho! - Page 6 Other News District 9820 TRF committee PR report for District Governor s News Letter Disease Prevention & Treatment Rotary's top priority is the eradication of polio, but our members take on far greater responsibilities to fight disease. They set up health camps and training facilities in undeveloped countries and in communities struggling with HIV/AIDS and malaria. They also design and build the infrastructure for doctors, nurses, governments, and partners to reach the one in six people in the world who can't afford to pay for health care. Disease prevention and treatment takes on many forms, from supporting studies to helping immunize people to improving drinking water and the sanitation infrastructure. The world relies on Rotary to tackle these global challenges, and to set an example for others to follow.
