We had TWO possible new members, Carol from Bourne and Thomas from South Dennis, both of whom were involved in no time! I also welcome whole-heartily Joanne and David Privett; Joanne as our new Vice President and Dave as an assistant to our hard-working Volunteer Coordinator, Tim Crane. THANK YOU! Our October speaker was Jim Ainsworth. He touched all of us with his insight and humor. Our November meeting will feature our annual visit with Dr. McAuliffe. It is interesting to note that he was instrumental in helping start our Mended Hearts chapter here at Cape Cod Hospital. We are also planning a holiday luncheon on Friday, December 4. Details will be available at the November meeting as well as the website. We speak to these post surgery patients as part of the patient education programs every three months. The meeting featured the Managing Nurse and Clinical Leader of the North 3 Cardiac Units reviewing their protocols for Congestive Heart Failure patients. An active discussion followed covering how our visits can reinforce what they are encouraging these patients to do post hospital stay. MEMORIALS honoring loved ones and friends are appreciated. Visitors must be Mended Hearts members in good standing, qualified as Cape Cod Hospital Volunteers, complete our Mended Hearts Training Program and either have had some form of heart surgery or procedure, or be heart surgery or procedure patient caregivers.
