3 UCSF Radiology Courses in BREAST IMAGING T he UCSF Department of Radiology is pleased to present its Breast Imaging courses for Through a series of lectures, panel discussions and workshops, these courses will provide a concentrated overview of the current status of and recent developments in breast imaging, with emphasis on the application of mammographic and sonographic techniques in breast cancer detection and diagnosis. These courses are intended to meet the needs of radiologists who specialize in breast imaging, as well as those of general diagnostic radiologists. Course content is also appropriate for radiologic technologists interested in learning more about breast imaging from the radiologist s perspective. The material covered in these courses is designed to help radiologists build their breast imaging practices on a firm foundation of knowledge, including: the strengths and limitations of the full spectrum of available breast imaging techniques; practical approaches to the management of breast masses and clustered calcifications; how to tailor examinations to the specific needs of both symptomatic and asymptomatic patients; methods to reduce the number of false-negative and false-positive mammography interpretations; interventional breast imaging procedures, with emphasis on percutaneous sampling of nonpalpable breast lesions; reporting of breast imaging examinations and compliance with FDA-implemented MQSA requirements; emerging breast imaging technologies, including MRI and digital mammography; effects of managed care and medicolegal considerations on breast imaging practices. Registrants are encouraged to bring any interesting case material for which they desire informal faculty review. Mammography viewboxes will be available for this purpose. Optional Digital Mammography Course At the January course, an optional course in digital-mammography will be available to registrants on Sunday and Monday afternoons (following the regular sessions), for an additional 7.25 credits. The Princeville Resort Kauai Nicknamed the Garden Isle because of its dense foliage, Kauai is located at the northwestern end of the Hawaiian island chain, and is also the oldest and most mature. Here you'll find the natural wonders of the Waimea Canyon, the Fern Grotto and the dramatic Na Pali coast. Lush, green valleys cut through folds in the mountains and open out to the sea. Soft tradewinds rattle palm fronds as the surf relentlessly pounds against the shore. Fluffy white clouds gather against the mountains while the sun provides nurturing warmth. When most people imagine a lush, tropical island in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, it is Kauai that they have in mind. Situated on the north shore of Kauai, the Princeville Resort offers guest rooms and public areas with breathtaking panoramic views of emerald mountains and the turquoise waters of Hanalei Bay. Outstanding natural beauty, exceptional recreational facilities, and superb restaurants make it easy to see why the Princeville Resort was named to Condé Nast Traveler's Gold List in 2004 and Golf Magazine lists the Resort as one of the "Top 25 Best Golf Havens in America" in their 2005 Gold Medal Resorts Reader survey. A block of rooms has been reserved at The Princeville for this conference.
