2 Diagnostic Imaging on Kona April 10-15, 2005 The Fairmont Orchid Hawaii, Kona This course is designed to provide the practicing radiologist an overview of and update on clinically relevant topics in diagnostic and interventional radiology. The course will stress practical issues in imaging; applications of multidetector-row CT and MRI for the diagnosis of neural axis, thoracic, cardiovascular, and breast diseases; interventional procedures in the chest, breast, abdomen, and pelvis; sonographic evaluation of the normal and abnormal fetus; conventional mammography and adjunctive breast imaging modalities as well as evaluation of the pediatric patient and contrast media reactions. In addition, a special lecture will be given on Imaging of Tumor Angiogenesis. Upon completion of the course, the attendee should be able to: - Evaluate the cardiovascular system using multidetector-row helical CT; - Diagnose degenerative and non-degenerative diseases of the spine; - Understand the imaging of patients with headache and head and neck abnormalities; - Diagnose normal anatomy and abnormalities of the peripheral nerves; - Diagnose breast disease using mammography, MRI and ultrasound; - Describe the use of image-guided interventional procedures in the chest, breast, abdomen and pelvis; - Diagnose abnormalities in the pediatric patient with pulmonary and gastrointestinal disease; - Understand the radiologist s role in preventing iatrogenic problems in children; - Diagnose abnormalities of the fetal neural axis, evaluate syndromes in the obstetrical patient and evaluate the fetus with suspected intrauterine growth restriction and macrosomia.
