2 EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES UCSF Audiology Amplification Update XI Holiday Inn Fisherman s Wharf November 1-2, 2013 This course is designed as a state-of-the-art update of contemporary audiological practice, including evidence-based fitting and verification of hearing aids, pediatric use of bone anchored implants, listener effort and fatigue from amplification, as well as techniques and challenges associated with aural rehabilitation, tinnitus, and cochlear implants. Although it is intended as a course for practicing audiologists, professionals engaged in hearing aid dispensing, audiology graduate students, physicians, and others involved in the management of adults and children with hearing disorders will also benefit. The program consists of four primary components: lectures presented by renowned faculty from around the country, moderated question and answer periods at the conclusion of each morning and afternoon session, moderated panel discussions, and updates on new technology presented by manufacturer representatives. ACCREDITATION University of California, San Francisco is a Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology and Hearing Aid Dispensers Board (SLPAHADB) approved provider for continuing professional development courses. This live activity meets the qualifications for 12 hours of continuing professional development credit for audiologists as required by SLPAHADB. American Academy of Audiology and American Board of Audiology (ABA Tier 1) credit approval pending. An attendee completing this course will be able to: Compare evidence-based research for current hearing aid fitting and verification; Assess information regarding listener fatigue and how to minimize it; Distinguish best practice guidelines for pediatric bone anchored implants; Illustrate new strategies for cochlear implant patients; Analyze recent research findings on the generation of tinnitus; Practice new approaches to aural rehabilitation; Solve challenges to participation and compliance in auditory rehabilitation.
