2 Practical Musculoskeletal MRI in the Desert February 6-8, 2005 Course Director: Lynne S. Steinbach, MD Professor of Radiology and Orthopaedics Introduction This course is designed for both the beginner and the advanced practitioner in musculoskeletal MRI. The fundamentals of imaging as well as the more sophisticated techniques will be presented. Up-to-date imaging protocols will be taught, as well as imaging pitfalls. Opportunity for questions and answers from the faculty will be provided. Particular attention will be placed on the more commonly requested exams, such as the knee, shoulder, and ankle. Educational Objectives At the completion of this course the registrants should have knowledge of all facets of musculoskeletal MRI. Practical, rather than theoretical, information will be emphasized. Each registrant will be introduced to the following MRI topics: - Bone Marrow, Infection, Soft tissue & Bone Tumors, Muscle; - Shoulder, Elbow, Wrist, Hand & fingers; - Hip, Knee, Ankle, Foot; - MR Arthrography, Cartilage Imaging. Faculty Christine B. Chung, MD Associate Professor of Radiology at San Diego Thomas M. Link, MD Associate Professor of Radiology William B. 3 Course Director: Fergus V. Coakley, MD Associate Professor of Radiology Chief, Abdominal Imaging Helical CT/MRI of the Abdomen and Pelvis February 9-11, 2005 Introduction The overall goal of this program is to provide an updated review on the use of helical, single and multidetector-row CT and MRI for imaging of the abdomen and pelvis. Registrants will learn the current approach and uses of CT/MRI in the examination of the abdomen and pelvis, including advances in abdominal MRI technique, genitourinary applications of CT/MRI, CT colonoscopy and CT/MR angiography. A balanced emphasis will be placed on review of core concepts as well as future directions emerging in academic practice. Practical applications of all these techniques will be highlighted. Attendees should gain familiarity with the latest approaches to helical CT/MRI including familiarity with imaging techniques, their appropriate utilization and review of protocols. The course will further provide an opportunity to assess the relative merits and indications for the use of these two modalities in the various abdominopelvic organ systems. Educational Objectives After attending this course, participants should be able to: - Know the benefits and limitations of helical CT/MRI in multiple diagnostic areas in the abdomen and pelvis, including evaluation of genitourinary pathology; - Appreciate the indication for the use of helical CT in comparison to MRI for various disorders; - Evaluate multiple diagnostic problems employing diagnostic helical CT/MRI; - Better interpret helical CT/MRI images; - Better interpret helical CT/MRI images of the abdomen and pelvis; - Describe the utilization of helical CT, including newer application such as CT angiography, CT colonography, CT urography and CT screening; - Describe the practical utilization of MR imaging techniques and results; - Advise colleagues of current imaging advances. Faculty Bernard F. King, MD Professor of Radiology Chair, Abdominal Imaging Division Mayo Clinic College of Medicine Rochester, Minnesota Bonnie M.
