2 Head-to-Toe Imaging Fairmont Sonoma Mission Inn & Spa Boyes Hot Sp September 25-30, 2005 The Department of Radiology, University of California, San Francisco, will present a postgraduate head-to-toe imaging course at Sonoma, in the midst of Northern California s wine country. This course is designed for the radiologist in clinical practice. Its intention is to provide an overview and update on a wide range of clinically relevant topics in diagnostic and interventional imaging, as well as an up-to-date assessment of the clinical uses of imaging modalities such as CT, MRI, MRA, PET, and sonography in the diagnosis of diseases of the central nervous system, chest, abdomen and pelvis, vascular system, breast, and musculoskeletal system. In order to enhance audience participation, a number of presentations will be case-based rather than didactic, and each subspecialty will present a state of the art review. In addition, ample time will be available for informal discussions with the course faculty. Educational Objectives In this course, the participant will gain an understanding of the appropriate use of basic and advanced radiologic techniques, including CT, MRI, MRA, sonography, PET, and interventional radiology in a wide range of different clinical settings, and in the diagnosis and treatment of thoracic, abdominal, breast, CNS, musculoskeletal, and vascular diseases. Practical uses of imaging techniques will be stressed, and the full range of radiologic imaging techniques will be covered. At the conclusion of the course, the attendee should be able to: develop an approach to the HRCT diagnosis of diffuse lung disease and the solitary pulmonary nodule in adults and airway obstruction in pediatric patients; better diagnose diseases of the bowel, kidneys, adrenal glands, and biliary system using CT and MRI; diagnose fetal syndromes and umbilical cord abnormalities using ultrasound, and recognize common pitfalls in ultrasound imaging of women; describe the current issues in the administration of radiographic contrast agents; diagnose vascular disease using CT and MRA; describe the current indications for catheter embolization and thrombolysis; recognize easily misinterpreted brain lesions; relate the techniques of state-of-the-art neuroimaging, including MR perfusion and diffusion imaging; describe the appropriate uses of PET and PET/CT in oncologic imaging.

4 Sonoma The Sonoma valley is one of the premier wine producing areas in the world. It is centrally located among the northern California wine regions between Napa and Russian River, making it easy to visit all of the sites, attractions and vineyards just north of the San Francisco Bay area. The region boasts a wonderful mixture of bed & breakfasts, restaurants, crafts shops, destination spas, wineries, tasting rooms, music festivals, farmers markets, shopping, golf and other recreational activities. The quality and diversity of activities makes the wine region a preferred destination for the discriminating traveler. There is always something to do in the area while the atmosphere invites you to relax and take your time. Daily temperatures at this time of year are usually comfortable and sunny, and there is the added bonus of being in the wine region during harvest time.
