It s hard to believe it s already July! I hope everyone is enjoying their summer. It s time for vacations, picnics, and just relaxing outside. We ve got our board installed and only need one more committee chair. Once again, I m asking for a volunteer for this committee. I understand we all have busy lives, but the children at Mooseheart, and the seniors at Moosehaven need us. If anyone has some extra time, please contact me or one of the other officers to volunteer. Thank you. The Lodge is having a town hall meeting at 7pm on July 12. Therefore, our WOTM meeting will be moved to 6pm instead of the usual time of 7. I would love to see a large group of women attend the meeting. I m making this a short article this month. I want to get outside and enjoy the beautiful weather! Jan Kearns, Sr Regent

5 Page 5Page 5 Governor Hello fellow Lodge Brothers and Women of the Moose Since I ll be leaving by the end of the month, I thought I would start a little earlier putting my article together. So here goes! First off the Lodge is still very busy with all of our activities going on. The few Wednesday nights that I have been there it sure seems like the horseshoe players have had great weather and are having lots of fun. I m not sure who is leading the way in the standings, but I m sure everyone is competing hard and having a great time. Bingo is going great as we are getting anywhere from players a week. Mary Ann and her group are doing a super job in organizing the evening. Every week they even get donations together for some worthwhile charity. Last month they collected items for Safe Harbor and helped with items for the Salvation Army the two previous months. Thank you one and all for giving and playing. Friday nights have slowed down some with the nice weather and all, but we are still getting a good crowd in for a good meal cooked by Stacy or Tony and to play the. As of this writing the is over $4,000.00! Let s try and get that up over $10,000 again. The second item I would like to bring up is helping out around the lodge. We are scheduling another town hall meeting with the Men and Women on the 12 th of July. I will not be present for that meeting, but I would like to just let you know how I feel about these issues. I do realize that it is summer and everyone is so busy these days that a lot of times family members just pass each other coming and going. We all have another family though and that s our Moose family. In the last few months since the last town hall meeting, the board of officers was given the task of turning our finances around and getting us pointed in the right direction financially. We have done just that and I am proud to say that Lodge 590 is doing a whole lot better in the pocket book now than we were just a few short months ago. We re actually running in the black for the last 4-5 months. What a turnaround! A lot of people helped get us back on firm ground, but the work isn t done. We need help, whether it s helping us clean up around the lodge, serving meals, or just coming in and doing any odd jobs that come up. We need more help! I think I can speak for the other board members in saying that we need a break and could sure use some help. Again, everyone is busy with summer activities, but the board of officers would like a break also. So, please consider where you can help and let the board know you re willing to pitch in. As our past governor said in previous articles, a burden heavy to one is borne lightly by many. Please help where you can. Sometimes we get so busy with the day to day operations we forget to thank those that work so hard around the lodge. So, please allow me this opportunity to pass out some much deserved thanks. Thank you to my fellow board members, you guys have gone far above and beyond and truly deserve the gratitude of every member of the Aberdeen Moose Family. So thank you Tim, Kelly, Doug, Bryan, George, Ron, Barry and Mike you guys were the key to our success. The Board of Officers does a lot, but there were many others that helped. So, thank you Mary Ann, Cindy, Deb, Amy, Sharon and all the other ladies that help each Thursday evening with bingo; thank you Cindy and Moe for cleaning up the jungle outside our front door; thank you Fran and George for cooking burritos and sharing your recipe with the lodge; thank you Stacy and Tony for all your help in the kitchen; thank you to the Tuesday morning Coffee Club for your donations and help around the lodge; thank you to Mark for keeping our lawn mowed and looking good; thank you to those that help with the legion breakfast; thank you to those that contribute by joining us for meals on Wednesday and Fridays; thank you to Shirley, Jimmy, Martina and all the others who provide moral support, advice, and anything else they can do to help and thank you to the WOTM Officers and all the WOTM for your help and support. I m sure there are others I ve forgotten to mention, so thank you to all that contributed to our success. Finally, I d be remiss without thanking my wife Tammy for putting up with me being at the lodge so often and for the times you helped waitress, clean, and decorate you truly are my Supergirl! Last item that I would like to bring up is this will most likely be my last article that I write for the Booster. As I sit here trying to keep my thoughts straight I can t help but think about all of the great people that I have been so fortunate to have met in my brief time here at the Lodge. I am truly blessed to have had such a fantastic opportunity to be part of a great organization that has so many wonderful people. I wish I could personally thank each and every one of you. Please give your next governor all the help you can and be sure to continue your great support to Mooseheart and Moosehaven. Phil Davis, Governor
